ah, lenny's on thursdays. i was a little annoyed i got charged some cover, but it was all good. i got to shoot some pool with a couple of the SG regulars, and then found myself at an old friend's show. i had also gone to highlander previously, and found some of the old crowd there as well.
i'm finally recovering from the bullshit of last week. tomorrow, i get some tags, and it's all going to be good. the paycheck is coming soon, as well. ah life. it's wonderful.
work was great today as well. i dunno if it's the weed that's been leveling me out, but it certainly makes my mornings interesting.
mostly, i think, being the master of my own destiny (at least for the next month or so) is a wonderful thing. reality can hit hard sometimes, but in the end, if you're in charge, life ends up real good. most of the suffering i see around me, severe or otherwise day-to-day stuff that gets blown of proportion, seems to come from a couple of things.
the primary thing is not having control over your own situation. bad shit happens to everyone, but if you let it take hold of your time and self, that is perhaps one of the more brutalizing human experiences. take a stand, work with what you're dealth with, and never back down. letting others trample over you and taking it is not the right way to live.
the second thing is similar, but it involves having a weak notion of the power to control your own self. it's relatively easy to stop others from messing up your groove, but it can be difficult to stop yourself cold. not being in charge of your own decisions, however small, ends up making you live a slave to your own mind's vices and irrational desires.
i've experimented with the last bit over the past few months...the body taking control over the actions of the self. but the key is to assert that you're letting it happen, and curb it at your own whim. it's a refreshing experience to tell yourself "no" when you're about to do something that doesn't fit with your idea of self.
soul? i don't think so. there is mind, and mind is part of body. that's one existence i've seen a ton of people in. but there's also this other mind that what and who you really are - understanding that person is a key to happiness.
bah. this post is uncalled for.
