Story of the day...............
Finally - it is the long weekend!!
This morning started off with yet another pilot making me giggle
I was preparing him do do an ECG, but in order to do so the person must be free of any and all metal. This causes the pilots to be left in their underwear due to the metal in their flight suits. "Can I have a towel or a blanket?" Now this is an unusual request of the males (females need a towel because they are not allowed to wear their bras). "Don't be shy - I see guys in their underwear all the time. You are wearing underwear aren't you??" He started to blush and gave me a nervous giggle as he dropped his flight suit. Now you probably think that he was buck naked underneath, but instead - I got the "cutest" shock ever. He was wearing Superman underwear!!
I giggled a little and that seemed to ease his embarassment. Could have been worse
I also did my drivers test in the ambulance yet again today!! I think that examinators should be clear in their instructions. First thing I was told to do was to drive to point Alpha (the point in which we wait for further instructions during an airborn emergency). Once there he says to me "OK you just loaded the Wing Commander in the back because he had a heart attack - lets go to the hospital" And with that instruction, I peeled out of the base and into town. "Watch your speed - this is a 50km zone!!!" he screamed at me. "Look - you said that the guy just had a heart attack. This is how I'm gonna drive to the hospital" "But you don't actually have a patient in the back!" "Make up your mind - do I drive normal, or do I simulate a real call?"
After some mumbling and grumbling we finally decided that driving normal would be in our best interests. I thought for sure that I failed the exam, but instead the examinator told my boss that I was quick to react to intense situations behind the wheel and I passed with no problems YAY for passing a second time
