Story of the day..................

Wow............first post as a civilian here on SGfrown I am not liking it so far (even though today is the first official day I am out of the military) but I just keep thinking to myself that it is only temporary confused

Lets see - the move went rather well even though it was one of the harder places to say goodbye to. My going away party was a blast!! We had about 45-50 people show up which was kinda funny since the pub only holds about 100eeek I got spoiled by my unit too blush They all pitched in to get me an original painting of the Snowbirds, Snowbird wine glasses, a framed staff photo, and some other little odds and endssmile I never felt so appreciated from my co workers in all my life blush

Just before I left Moose Jaw for good I got another nice suprise from my husband too eeek........a trip to come out and see him FINALLY!!!!biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

We are going to use the time to look at houses and get a feel for where we would like to live. This time will also be good to take care of some things like my work visa, doing Disneyland (as if you guys are suprised by this) and also look into (and probably) enlist in the US Navy or US Coast Guard eeek Some people are really questioning my motive for doing such thing but it all comes down to where I feel like I belong and the military seems to be it for me. I am also exploring other career paths but until I can get myself together to apply for those jobs I am not really going to get into it herewink

Anyways - I have a basement full of stuff that I need to go through but I just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well and didn't forget youbiggrin

Take care

Sounds like you had fun, it's nice that you had so many people show up for a proper send off. Whatever you end up doing, I'm sure you'll do it well. Coast Guard is a really good idea, even if you just go in as a reservist (but I hope you've got some sea legs). If not, you'd better make sure you go on The Pirates of the Caribbean ride several times (and Splash Mountain too). Yes, you will get wet. biggrin Maybe you'll make your way out to say hi to us all too. It would be nice to see you again. I'm sure you and Pete will want to spend as much "quality time" together as you can though wink. (But if you end up kidnapping me again, I'm getting my own room this time).

In other "news"... Well, what can I say? I tried but I should have listened to you in the first place. confused I'm not as upset as I thought, a little annoyed, but it's alright. Oil and water just don't mix. I hope for the best, no matter the circumstances. I've got some good memories and that's all that matters. Take care sis, (suddenly that doesn't feel weird to say anymore). smile

And for good measure... ARRR!!! Arr! ARRR!!!

Thank you for the birthday cake! It was yummy and very special to me. smile

Holy hannah! The gifts sound amazing. What an absolute treat for you to have to remember the good people and good times by. Heck, maybe they'll even name a maneuver after you. smile

Sweetie, I'm not questioning your motives. I'm just worried about a few things. If you enlist in the Navy I'm afraid they'll send you to hell and gone, and you and Pete will never get to spend time together. I wouldn't say I don't trust the Navy...it's just that I don't trust the upper echelons of the Navy to give a chipmunks rear about anyone below, say captain, or their personal lives. I'm afraid that they will cut orders to send you guys, at the best, to different sides of the US, and worst to different corners of the world. Especially with Bush in charge (at least on paper). I'm just wondering if there is other things you might be able to do...like join a dance troop, or be a civilian medic, etc.

Remember, it's the job of your older brother to make sure you're doing the right thing for you. wink
