On saturday morning I remembered that Sunday was mother's day. That's probably two days earlier than last year, what a sod I am sometimes. I ammended my weekend plans, I thought Sunday probably wasn't the right day to get stranded between here & Nelson on the commando. So instead of completely tearing the forks apart on Saturday, I just drained & re-filled them. I rode it down Boulder Highway to Sunset & back home without an incident. It's running beautifully & is an absolute blast to ride. It felt so good that I couldn't help but air it out a bit on the way home. 6K rpm aught to be at least a hundred mph, but the speedo isn't correct so I'm not sure. I can assure you I was not going 150 as indicated. Stock 750 commandos top speed was supposed to be 115. I don't know if the gearing has been changed, I do know the alloy rims aren't stock. Also I happened across a CD re-issue of two Legendary Stardust Cowboy LP's. Boy how I love that guy. The world really needs a couple more space-infatuated bugle-playing tone deaf cowboys. What his mom must've endured...
