Well, I can't get cocky because the thruxton really isn't very fast as far as bikes go, but I did show up a harley on the freeway today. I was going 80 & he passed me moving pretty well, I sped up quick & matched him at about hundredish, but kept enough behind that he could see me there in his mirror. I wasn't really figuring he'd want to play, but when he saw me right there he opened it up. When I passed him the speedo said 120 & I still had a little room before the redline, maybe 500rpm. Lucky for me we were closing in on some construction, I didn't really want to keep that up very long cause I had on my open face helmet & clear glasses, my eyes were watering & the little bits of sand in the air sting pretty good. Next up for the bike is some keihin flatslide race carbs. That should be worth a few ponies now, but will pay off more later with a big bore kit, some head work & new cams. Southbay Triumph is getting 95 rear-wheel horsepower on a regular basis with that set-up. Stock for the bike is in the mid fifties at the rear wheel. I saw this the other day & loved it: "I want to go out of this world the same way I came in. Screaming, kicking, and covered in blood." I might as well adopt that motto, cause it's gonna happen eventually.
