Well you sound like your doing it the right way by planning it ..the only other thing to do is save money!! Most of my tattoos were done by different artist as I have gotten older I am much pickier about what I get and whom does it..especially since I already have one cover up under my belt. 
and I am sure I will probably be covering up my butterfly on my ankle with something sooner or later.. so go slow and you will always be happy with the finished outcome!! Have you joined the tattoo group yet maybe someone on there would be willing to draw something up for you!!

Soo jealous I am sure it will be a blast ...and the best advice I can give is wear what you feel comfortable in and most like you I can't tell you how many times I wore an outfit or shoes that didn't feel quite me on me and it ruined my whole day!!
