Nothing exciting today... After working 13 hrs and being back in the work swing of things again, I'm very ready to have Saturday off! biggrin

Tomorrow night I'm booked to go see Lost InTranslation at the Yale Med School's Film Society...$3 second-run theater run unknown to much of New Haven & you can totally bring in food & drink! wink

Saturday it sounds as if plans are...

how was the movie? i really wanted to see that one but still haven't got around to it..
we have plenty of movie theaters like that here in portland, it is all about the 21 + ones where you can get pizza and beer and just watch a movie smile
hippomonki:

oh and we just have to come up with a cool design for the shirts and decide which cities i am gonna visit... should it be international so i can hit canada too?

Okay, going back to work wasn't as bad as I thought... The residents of the house were especially tickled and the staff've had their hands full in my absence. I was able to tag along w/ a couple of the fellas to their weekly lunch outing out on the town. Usually, it's the Subway in Westville... Today it was a chinese buffet joint near Merritt...

thank you, kind sir, for the techsplanation! i am ever obliged. biggrin now i can go absolutely hog wild with external references.

loveLOVe the verse, par usual. its an amusing image, especially since i have the beat for "the ants go marching" (the children's version not the dave matthews version) in my head. perhaps written by john lee? seriously, that is amazing - 500 songs - yeesh. can you imagine? i'm glaringly ignorant of the blues, but duly impressed nonetheless.

glad that the return to work went well. yr job sounds endlessly fascinating. i bet you and ap have amazing discussions about the various dimensions of the human mind, v. cool.

Thanks smile I'm sure I will have another..ummm...creative moment.

Let's see...How did I spend my last day of vacation?

Slept in! Got up to false alarm maintenance call...nice to know that they're made. Checked comments, posted comments to those out there and started my day.

I went to begin the process of rescuing some books. My parents have been a thoughtful recepticle for storing my many boxes...mainly because they're uber-neatly stacked in the basement....

Some kids see their parents as a never ending resource, to be tapped into whenever the wind blows in a different direction, and some realize that their parents deserve the enjoyment of freedom after a certain point, and the opportunity to live their own lives the way they want to. But the bottom line is that your parents are there for both you and your sister when you might need them, and that's got to be a comforting thought. There are always wacky sibling dynamics, and you should be thankful that your family is close enough (as is mine, and I have a sister, too!) that you can experience both their love and support as well as that wacky sibling drama. It helps keep life rich and interesting!

On to the music: I have my own studio crammed with gear, and spend lots of my days either working on my music, or doing sound design for websites. I'm able to release an album here and there, and keep my sanity by writing music I enjoy, and hopefully others do too. It's all the patching, and all the cables that threaten to unravel me! But, no complaints. I love what Ido, and music (either mine or others') informs just about everything in my life. Wouldn't have it any other way. smile

I am a model for excitement. Follow my example at your own peril... surreal

ITunes playing: The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love. A pretty wonderful song that it seems has an equally silly video...wouldn't know, no cable. They sound like AC/DC being fronted by Freddy Mercury and Jeff Lynne's (Electric Light Orchestra) lovechild. Nothing like a high whorbley falcetto to get one...

Woo hoo for tax refunds!! biggrin

We always, ALWAYS end up owing for some strange reason. (Lack of deductions, marriage penalty . . . what have you . . . sigh)

I say go for the camera.

Hey! I think I forgot to mention yesterday how much of a This American Life fan I am. I really love that show! I have seen David Sedaris and Ira Glass and the Sarah Vowell do readings, and we got to see the entire show live last summer (readings, band, Ira). I got the flaming squirrel tee! Yay for TAL!!
arachnequarius:
you are WILD!! tongue is that you breakdancing for the pope? omg, i laughed out loud at that one. hilarity and hijinks in the vatican.

wow - i am totally impressed that yr taxes are completed. as for the returns, all of the above suggestions sound like the potential for fun. here is the thing, you can build bookshelves for not alot of money, and you can buy the camera, and that STILL leaves enough to try yr hand at gambling. should you win you can bankroll it and save up for the ultimate roadtrip. yay - everybody wins! biggrin i can really spend other people's money, huh?

ELO rocks my world. I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE and the world shines on me today inDEED. surreal

Hi smile

Thank you for the balloon. love I appreciate your sweet thoughtfulness. Gots lots and lots on my mind these days. I think I'm still struggling out of the mire that was created by giving up. Soooooo glad that I have found so much to celebrate, contemplate and generally bring my awareness back to the glorious experience of living.

I'm jealous that you guys have such a neat little CT clique. I haven't even met any of the PDX folks yet, but the PDX burlesque is coming up in February, so my chance may yet arrive. Teehee!

I hope that you had a marvelous vaction. It sounds like it was throughly enjoyed from what was revealed in your journal updates. Yay vacation!! And on that thought, it is back to bizziness for me . . . wheeeee?

*glows and hugs for you*

starisea:
PS~ The Lemony Snicket books are such a treat! Especially for those of us who enjoy the macabre and Gory stories. I will be starting book 4 after I have caught up on all my currently borrowed books and property purchasing reading requirements.

unleash the 36 chambers ...my arachnequaius wu name - also childish gambino
my real name - budget nudist - this one is far more accurate. my poor roommate is eternally plagued by my nudity. and, since i cannot affort the lingerie i've been coveting lately, budget indeed.

in keeping with the theme (also soon to be in my post), get this one : artificial robotic android calibrated 4 harm and nocturnal exploration. now that's what i'm talkin' about ...

Grrr...the doldrums of dial-up, my friends... mad Well, can't complain too hard! There was an official Unofficial SGCT meeting at Retronerd & her boy's swank pad. It's always strange for me to meet cool folk whom I've conversed with for some time and suddenly seem them animated. biggrin Kinda like comic book universe crossover...

Well gang, we got about 12-15 pictures to document (I forget the exact...

Dude, great pics, thanks for putting them up. Thanks even more for sparing me an evil caption on the barbie pic, not too many people would have passed up the opportunity. We are a great looking group, cant wait to get together again.

Quiet Friday. Slept until 11a, drank coffee & read Joseph Campbell. Went shopping for unofficial SGCT get-together tomorrow. Stocked up on other randomness at Trader Joe's & bought delicious bits for lunch - fresh basil, roma tomatoes & chiabata bread to match the balsamic I had waiting w/ baited breath at home.

Caught up w/ friends a couple of different ways today... Bumped into one...

tx, mr. guitar guy! KoS and sierra created my new picture - spiffy indeed.

so yr one of those talented, but shy types, eh? but you recorded an album? i'll bet its quite wonderful. are you a rocker type or my the singer/songwriter variety? does this have something to do with that cryptic line "experiencing music through center cancellation"?

so yr evening sounds quite fun - and you are the official provisions provider, it seems. ah, and the trader joe's is mocking me again. wink

potted plants are excellent conversationalists. well, except for peonies ... they are snobs. biggrin

edited to say ... jesus murphy - i missed 3 entries!! gah! as for yr bailing on the work party, yes, you chose wisely grasshopper. they are never as good as they promise to be. and now i have a loop of "master and commander" in mine tiny noggin. it may be the only time russell crowe has appealed to me. yes, he is a good actor blah de blah, but something about him just bugs.

anyway - have you seen big fish YET? tongue

Ahh...skipped out on going to the work party dealie. Went to the meeting this afternoon & all the selling points weren't as strong as first reported to me (open bar, etc). So, AlienPrincess and I went to the Cine 1-2-3-4 and saw "Master and Commander". For the first ten minutes I had, "It's a lot, it's a lot, it's a lot like life... Let's play...

No open bar? Boy, you do have your priorities straight! No sarcasm intended...you gave up free booze and schmoozing opportunities to be with your honey. Very laudable, and highly romantic! blush

And, thanks for the movie recommendations...I'm tending to agree with you, and I want to see both, so Big Fish is first.

Just ordered a copy of Cryptonomicon, based on your fave book list. I've been meaning to get it, and it comes highly recommended by a couple of friends of mine, but I always seem to forget to pick it up when I'm in a store. So, double thanks! biggrin

My only work-involved hiccup on my vacation happens today... I was volunteered by my group home manager to be our liason to our agency's new founded Nutrition Committee. The last meeting was held around Thanksgiving, skipped over December entirely & lands on today. I'd fake my own death or pretend I was vacationing in VT, MA or NY but that leads us to hiccup pt....

I just went to my bf's holiday work party a couple of weeks ago. I think it's better to have them after the season is over anyway, when everyone can actually relax and enjoy the...open bar (and each other's company too, of course!).
And I need to get to a movie theater myself...still haven't seen Big Fish or Return Of The King yet. need to do that before they vanish from the big screen.

Dude, cant wait to meet you guys this saturday, Sierra is looking forward to it as well. Thanks for the great journal post, means the world to me bro. It seems that you would make an incredible dad yourself.
