What a weekend.
Friday:Had dinner with Geckotiff, Siege, and The Hot Chick at Waldo pepper's. Good times and only a wee bit uncomfortable at intervals.
Saturday: Drove to Toledo to catch some of the Art Tatum Jazz Festival, hit the mall to get The Hot Chick some boots, then we drove to detroit and booked a hotel room. After we showered, got dressed, makeup'd, and genuinely freaked out the hotel staff, we drove about two blocks to City Club. Arriving at around 12:45, we checked out the scene there for about 4 hours, danced, drank a bit, watched people, enjoyed ourselves, and left, thinking we could get some breakfast food before bed. As the diner in the hotel above the club took only cash, we drank a little on-the-house coffee and got directions to a casino nearby with a 24 hour greek restaurant. Turns out it's way easier to find the casino than it is to find your way back to your hotel from it. After being thoroughly lost in downtown Detroit for about an hour and a half, we finally made it back to the hotel and fell directly asleep, as it was approaching 6:30 am.
Sunday: Woke up at around 11:30, re-packed, and left for... you guessed it... DAYTON, OH. Yep. Drove and drove and drove to get to the park where The Hot Chick's family was celebrating her grandpa's birthday. Chilled with the fam for a bit, rollerbladed a bit, and headed back towards Findlay.
Only managed to get one speeding ticket the entire weekend's drive, equal to about 1.5 times the length of Ohio, so that's a real plus. Not to mention I've had the sinus infection/venusian death cold from HELL for the past 4 days.
