Burning man hu? I've never been but I've heard good and bad things about it from friends of mine that have been. I'm not really too outdoorsy anymore. I used to be, but in my old age I've realized that my couch is oh so much more comfortable than the ground and a sleeping bag. Every time I go camping, it rains on me.
I love the rain and all, but I don't like to swim down the mountain...... 
I hope that you and your girl have a great time, and I'm sure that if everyone is into the meaning behind, and the hanging out with good friends, it won't matter where you are staying.. you'll all have a blast. It's called party bonding!
