Hmm.... exploring this site is jading me already...

I click to look at pictures, only to learn that SG has pre-emptively removed certain potentially "offensive" art out of fear of the U. S. government.

I read the descriptions about groups I want to join, and they don't want new members - only folks who've been on SG for a couple months and actively participate in groups. Anyone see the contradiction in that?

I'm a journalist fully educated in the First Amendment, and I think removing photos is a pussy move, probably with financial considerations (legal costs, etc.) at the root. I agree that ultimately it's up to Missy and whoever else runs the site to decide on content, and I appreciate their honesty in explanation, BUT if we don't stand up for our rights, we're just perpetuating the fear=power dynamic that grips this country by the throat while we're ass-raped by the Bush Administration and his retinue of sycophants and dellusional power-mongers.

I'm not really pissed at SG, just feeling discouraged to see yet more symptoms of escalating oppression reaching the realms of SUBSCRIPTION content.
