My Mum raised me to be honest. If she caught me lieing she'd hit me so hard i'd have a hand mark for three days. I used to hang out with older kids who gave me my first taste of my generations music in Wu Tang, Nas, and Snoop. I never got into Snoop, i mean yeah, he was nice on the mic but i couldn't relate to his world. Nas and WU however talked about the value of education, art, friendship, fantasy, aggression and struggle. They showed me self-belief that when i got expelled and sent to a catholic school i decided to emulate to fight back. if they could live in poverty and teach me from half way around the world then i could be strong too. I faught the kids who used to taunt me each day until i broke a guys arm and they were scared of me.

Wu made me think about my mortality even as a kid in dull suburbs. The music changed me: I've never taken breathing for granted. I realised never to judge a man by the color of his skin or the way he talks (something that even people i call friends still cant always do). I gained a love for language and a realization of how different human cultures are. I saw that here in England I was trapped in our own system of a near police state (in my opinion.. don't talk to me about id cards, Quatanimo bay or our lack of a basic constitution) and how money would govern my daily life not love or art.

Its made me start my own company, attempt to become a stand-up (to challenge my life perception), and make music of my own. small things that give me space to not go crazy.

In short Nas has a new LP out. He's a man, he can be vain, over-simplistic, cheesy, and straight wrong but he's trying to speak to a new generation. thank the void for the vortext of Hip-Hop.

Here's my favorite love song:

A song that makes me feel less stressed:
