Spent most of the weekend hanging out with friends in some form or another. Melanie came down to hang out and we went with my roommates and one of their cousins and family to our local "90 billionty beers on tap" bar that is just a mile or three down the road to celebrate some birthdays. They sang karaoke. One of my roommates and her... Read More
I believe there's a real joy in seeing those road signs from a motorcycle on a beautiful day. One of my favorite girlfriends got her license this past summer, but she lives in NJ. I made her promise that when I come visit she'll take me for a ride. I'm sure it won't be anything like riding out in Texas. There's something to be said for all that space!
The slushy stuff is getting old here, too. I'm so ready for spring, even cold spring. I just want to see things budding again and feel like summer's actually going to happen. Snow is pretty but it's been gross lately.
The more you describe your living situation, the more it sounds like a set-up for a porn flick. Passionate lesbians living with a motorcycle-riding Marine...it writes itself. I'm kidding. But yes, you must be sure to include whatever housework you find yourself doing (especially if you do it well) on your romantic CV. It's useful knowledge.
The good thing about almost getting killed on your motorcycle is the "almost" part. Big flatbed truck a way ahead suddenly got on the brakes and ended up sideways across two lanes of traffic, causing every vehicle ahead between it and myself to get on the brakes HARD. Got on the brakes and the back end kicked out a bit a couple of times, but... Read More
Saw G but not H Friday night and had such a great night out! He's a doll. He told me a little about H's situation...sending lots of love his way. So glad to have met them both.
Wanted to post this for you earlier and forgot. My favorite of theirs by far:
been watching a lot of films. It's been a regular extended holiday as slow as work has been. I think I worked all of 30 hours in the whole month of January...maybe.
Good thing for busy ass summers inflating my savings account and the fortunate timing of tax returns.
it's actually getting a bit boring, but I've had... Read More
I took a short vacation in December before the holidays. I went to Baltimore and Washington, D.C., and to New York. I saw some good friends and had a great time and took a ton of photos, that I've just recently finished with.
Which is kinda silly of me. I take vacation photos...weed out all the ones that are out of focus or not particularly... Read More
Hope you're staying warm out there! Evidently I've forgotten how cold it was in NYC when I left and keep finding it way too cold here. It's Texas, dammit-it should be warm, even if it is early January.
Your friends were so right about the Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum: it was lovely and worth seeing, for sure.
" May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself" N. Gaiman
Just want to wish all of you a Happy Holidays. No matter what you do or don't celebrate as far as Officially Named Days(tm) I hope you get to spend some good times with good people...preferably over good food and drink.
I kid you not, the first thought I had while riding my bike during a cold snap after getting my heated liner was "best hundred bucks I ever spent in my life" shortly followed by "shit, I've been cold dozens of times while riding for the last 10 years without one, how much of a dumbass have I been ?"
Your Portuguese is worse than mine, but I appreciate the sentiment. It wasn't as morose as it sounded; I just found something poetic in my bossa nova lyric searches and it seemed appropriate.
One of our most, ahem, frequent clients asked me, when I answered the phone at work Friday and wished her a Merry Christmas, if that's a holiday I celebrate. She was calling for unimportant reasons and wanted me to call the devout Catholic doctor that wasn't even on call that day. I'm not religious but come on.
