Finally made it back to my own apartment sometime earlyish this morning...and to my own bed for some much needed sleep. and tomorrow I'm back out again...gone for a week and a half or so on a trip out into West Texas. It was to be a motorcycle adventure, but it seems whilst I was away living it up in San Francisco others fell prey to dreaded mechanical problems. So I may be the only one on a motorcycle, though more than likely we'll just cage (car) it out there and enjoy the camping. I'll have all summer to ride the motorcycle.
I'm still coming off the high that was SG Prom. That was just an amazing weekend and getting to see and meet so many of my "imaginary" friends, some for the first time...very cool.
I've been trying to log in to SG for the last couple days and just now managed actually. Was I the only one? I didn't even get the Timmy's gone out for more girls page...twas odd.
anyhow.
as best as I can remember:
as soon as I got into SF and got my hotel I was on the phone with datsun and she was hanging out with me. We went out to eat at some really good Italian place...she knows the best eats.
I still remember walking out of my hotel and having a brief attack of wondering what car she would be driving...because I have a tendency to miss the obvious.
Friday was the curry mixer at Thee Parkside and that was great. I missed the kickball game due to insipid laziness and late waking. Also whenever I come to SF I have to do some walkabout down towards Golden Gate Park. Buena Vista Park is actually my favorite park in the city...it looks like a fairy tale forest and it just goes UP. great views of the city too and always much less crowded...and some of the most sociable squirrels you are likely to meet.
but right. I arrive at Thee Parkside and immediatly find myself in one of those situations that I am not the best equipped for. the kind that involves people. in numbers larger than single digit. But given the quality of the people it went all very well. I got to see some familiar faces that I hadn't seen in a couple years...like freckle and Ophelia. And I got to meet new people such as sunburntkamel and the incredible KaliDoom. Kali was easily one of the neetest (double ee test) people I've met.
I think she was worried that maybe she was obnoxious. I think she was a bit drunk and friendly to the point of precociousness. I thought she was great. And much is forgiven green haired cuties.
Curry was great. the food was awesome. I met various and asundry strangers. too many to be listed here. but amongst them sixsixty, UnnecesseryZ, sempi. I saw Coco again and that was awesome. Ran unexpectedly into woodstock, whom I had actually met a year before in Texas. Also Olivia and s5. I dont think I actually talked to them much if at all that evening. I meant to ask them if Lhasa Moon was still around or if it had indeed closed down...but I don't think I ever did.Finally got to meet a rather hopped up Dave_H and supernovice. I saw lots more people there that I recognized but didnt walk up to. It got pretty crowded and I actually got peopled out pretty early on and split.
And so the next day. I met up with datsun and we headed to north beach for some more food. By high happenstance and curious coincidence we ran into Kali and Trevor at the very resturaunt we were planning to go to. Spent some good time there on excellent food...awesome tiramasu. and the muttering lady in the yellow goggles.
then I went a wandering through China town and eventually down to Haight where I purchased my much loved Ninja shirt.
Decided to go full dress on the tuxedo rather than the Ninja shirt (red red) under the tux jacket.
and then The Prom itself.
Jeebus. People. Everywhere.
Awesome time. and I even remember some of it. I got to talk to Voltaire for a bit when she got there which was great. Last time I spoke to her was again a couple years back. I never did she when she left. Hanging out with datsun and Kali again.
Mistersatan and I did shots. Got to meet unraveled.
Condoms and Cucumbers
Kali munching on said Cucumber. The BANANNA ATE THE CUCUMBER! and video killed the radiostar.
the magic waterfall that was people on the blacony spilling drinks down onto my tux. tuffy in a bunny suit.
I met infinitlykaty even though I was convinced she HAD to be several thousand miles away. I recognized her by her geektasticness in sorta the same way I recognized sean_baby from the characteristic audacity evidenced by the blue saranrap shirt.
great live music that made conversation all but impossible.
heading outside into the mist for a smoke break even though I don't smoke.
seeing tony-dreammaker was a bit of a surprise. but I suppose where else was I gonna run into that curly locked kilt wearing swaying to the beat bastard?
The night ended too early.
I kinda wish I had been staying at the San Remo with everyone else so I could have hung around and continued to party. But I really liked the Mosser. I think we should definitly take over that place next time. It has a bit more in the way of amenities and a more central, if busier, location.
found out that jeremyscaremy was staying in my hotel as well..I thought I was the only one.
Next day found out that Al, dunx, and Luminaire were also there on a different floor. saw them leaving as I came out. sorta introduced myself to them.
then I went to the wrong Pork Store for brunch and ended up lunching at Askew (favorite) before meeting up with some people back at the Thee Parkside again for follow up drinks and pre- post dance party debauchery.
was spectator to the strange bar beverage ettiquite in use by jeremyscarmey and Maxx, who I finally met for real.
also Sita and ThePirate were there. Met freyja finally after hearing all kinds of awesomeness about her from vasious NYC peoples. Got to hang out with Dave_H some more and go on a near terrifying car ride with supernovice at the wheel. sorry, dude, but damn. red light to red light in 20 seconds...the red lights being 10 blocks apart.
I walked/bussed back to my hotel. It was needed actually. I don't know why, but I get my fill of people (not specific persons...just...people) fairly quick and sometimes I have to get the hell outta there. besides I wanted/needed a shower and it was my last chance to wear my Ninja shirt.
I enjoyed the post party quite a bit. I was able to go a little eaiser on the drinking and did something I didn't even do at the actual prom. I actually got out on the dance floor and moved more than one appendage at a time in what (I think at least) might have been a somewhat coordinated fashion.
Kali can be credited for the inspiration there. That and I actually just felt like getting my ass out there. until someone dropped a stink bomb or two on the floor. fuckwad. he wasn't even there for the party...just a random person. or at least as best I could figure. I think I spent most of the rest of that night in a serious of taxi cabs and didn't got much sleep at all.
Monday was supposed to be my...coming down...day I guess. to recover from the weekend entirely before repacking and getting back on a series of flights that would bring me back to Texas. it was a good day. didn't go entirely the way I had planned. but I spent that last night in San Francisco, walking about by myself just...just going over all the weekend and thinking about how odd it is... last year at this time my life was very very different.
so back in Texas. I flew back into San Antonio and met up with some friends. My best friend who just moved back from Atlanta as I was coming back from Iraq and the friend who has been taking care of my cat this whole time. we joke that she be my kitty mama and I owe feline support.
spent the evening with them watching Team America. they smoked. I drank...and couldn't sleep.
Planned to come back to Austin the next night but met up with some other friends. One friend I really hadn't seen in years though we've managed to keep in touch just enough to know what's going on. Went to hang out with her and see her girlfriend who MC's at a karaoke bar. Good times. Drank some more.
whew. all this drinking after almost a year of not.
I'll not be drinking on this trip out into the hinterlands of Texas. this is to be a much more minimalist vacation.
I'll leave tomorrow evening and be gone for a week or so.
I'll see y'all when I get back.
to all the people I neglected to mention in this horribly long self indulgent post, I apologise. I've been going back and adding people in as the brain comes up with them and even still I know I'm forgetting a ton.

ok tis Tuesday early morning (hey it's early for me, ok) and I am sitting in the internet cafe around the block from the hotel. I get the hell outta town in a couple hours.
This has been an incredible whacked out stupendous immensly enjoyable and strange weekend.
I only get a 1/2 hour on the information super treadmill so I'll have to spread my observations over a couple updates when I get back.
mainly it was just a very very good thing to finally meet so many people from the site that I'd talked to but never met, and it was even better to see again some very good friends that I hadn't been able to hang out with for a couple years now.
I'll have to wait to list everyone that I was glad to meet and see. but I have to mention that I owe datsun and sempi a lot for keeping me in the loop those days before and all the way through prom.
getting to see the Seattle peeps again that were there really made me happy. Tony, Ophelia, Randy, Bridgette. I hope y'all all made it back to your respective homes safely and happily.
The SF Crew again...the hospitality is ridiculous. I can't even list them all. well I will, but it'll have to wait.
anyway. great weekend. very glad I made it out for this.
and I love this town. I don't think I'd ever live here, but I will defitnitly be back anytime my travels (which don't ever really seem to end) bring me back to the left coast.
seems like I've never felt so upbeat or beatdown (hungover) as I am here.

I never even read that stupid tag. I tore it off because it was itchy.

Also, I hope you're having a wonderful time out there. That sounds like a perfect way to relax after all that Prom fun.
