still no definite word. they are being deliberatly vague. but I am people that knows people. being as how I am the only admin guru for my platoon...all it takes is owning a laptop and having nearsightedness to be branded as the computer genius in the infantry.
it looks like we'll go active in May sometime. probaby won't actually leave the country for a couple months, but then it's off to the big sandbox for the better part of a year. all activations are a year with the option (their option) of extending to 18 months under the stop loss.
I am not looking forward to this. I didn't mind getting activated so much the first time, but this time I actually had plans in motion to get shit done....like move to Seattle and finish my degrees and shit. at this rate I'll be in my 30's before I get my BA's and then I'll probably just say "fuck it" to getting my masters like I've always wanted to. not to mention I'm not too thrilled about the added threat of death and dismemberment.
the only good news is I'll probably be on the West Coast somewhere for the training...so if I get any time off (they BETTER give us time off) I might be able to hang out with some cool Californians.
and there is a clause in my student loans that says if I go to a forward or hostile area that a certain amount of my student loans are forgiven ( I think it's half..I'll have to check) and when you owe $20 grand+ that's pretty damn good.
and that's pretty much my life right now...trying to rearrange everything to meet the needs of the United States Marine Corps. been getting constant phone calls during the day when I usually sleep..so no sleep.
and I'm not sure what possessed me to hang out with my roommate and his co-workers and drink earlier this evening, but I was juuuust about sober enough to ride to work. and now I'm just damn tired.
but for Knob Creek whiskey, it's worth it.

Hey thanks! Sorry you can't make it. Sounds like you have quite a bit to deal with. That's pretty intense. Well, for what it's worth, I have so much respect for the USMC. So, are you in the reserves? Best of luck to you. Maybe we can all get together sometime before you leave.

I wasn't spending any energy there anyway, it was just a way to waste some time.
