well, back from my "weekend". I went pretty damn well right up until the end, as things sometimes do.
There was a bunch of rain heading out towards the border, so I had to save that ride for another time. Instead I headed out of San Antonio going Northwest to a little town through the hill country. Great ride. it was overcast but no rain I left at just the perfect time too, apparantly. almost no cars on the little two lane hwy. the weather report had said gusting winds but I didn't notice any.
made it out to a little nowhere state park...had to drive the bike on some unpaved road, but it managed. even forded a low water crossing. Estella (I've finally gotten around to naming the motorcycle) handled it all pretty well.
Got off the bike and just decided to hike some trails. in my motorcycle boots and jacket no less. at least I was able to stash my chaps in my backpack. climbed a few hills. took some pictures that didn't really come out and generally enjoyed a day away from the house and the city. stopped in the little town to have a late lunch at the Dairy Queen (been AGES since I been in one). It was very small town. lots of older folks and cheesy oldies music on the intercom (" sittin in la la waiting for my ya ya" ?). over ate including ice cream and then rode home. and found out where the wind went. apparantly I had ridden up the whole way with a tail wind...which means on the way home I was riding 70mph+ into a 25mph headwind. felt likeI was gonna get ripped off the bike. gee that was fun.
spent the rest of my weekend drinking with the roommate and reading and napping.
and then today my replacement for my Morrowind expansion pack arrived! the original having been stolen off of my porch.
so now I can feed my addiction with new MATERIAL!
and then just to keep things balanced. ( I believe in balance I really do, but just someitmes I wish it would upset in the favour of happy joyful shit)
I got the phonecall letting me know that my battallion is on standby for activation this summer. standby as in we are going as soon as they can get all the proper moving parts moving in the proper direction. so it's proceeded past the rumour to the general fact. though ALL the facts are still out. the speculation on where exactly we would go is pretty limited. there's only one place that they are sending people, particularly entire battalions.
that and the skies finally opened up in torrential rain...fifteen minutes before I had to ride to work. though I've found after all the rain riding I did this winter, it doesn't bother me hardly at all. it's certainly not uncomfortable...it just makes me nervous. because other drivers are 90% fucktards at best. especially when it comes to looking out for motorcyclists.

You have to let us know if you can come down! That would be really cool. I haven't seen the girls since the burlesque show but would love to get together. They're sweethearts. So are you!
On literally a brighter note...Nice Hair
