Well, lessee...I am down here with the Marine Corps Security Forces which means my job is pretty much limited to the outer perimeter of the base. The only time I am ever at all close to the detainees is when they bring them in. I can't spill all the beans about my work down here, but our schedule is pretty hellacious...we work about 24 hours and then get about an 8 hour break to rest and do laundry and whatnot. We do that for about 8-12 days at a time and then we get a couple days off to relax before we start up again.Mainly I stand in a really tall tower right on the fence and watch the Cubists. As far as how the detainees are treated, they are'nt in the little shack cells with the fence walls anymore now that the permanant facility is up. They have thier own food service people to make meals according to thier religion and thier own chaplin. From our tower we watched over the old camp and they were treated like prisoners at any other prison I imagine. They have trained military police handling them...not infantry types like myself...guess they just don't trust us Marines to do that. :-) I wouldn't. From what I gather most of the people that are here are hardly the folk that were running the show. Most of them will probably be sent back at some point. But I wouldn't know about most of that.
