another long lunch break at home. good thing about living near the office. They seem to be splitting the work up into early in the morning and then late in the afternoon. Not many people want to be home from work during the day even if they need to have the furnace fixed. so it means I get these long pauses in the day to...

little bit late, but Happy Lunar New Year

not much going on. sitting at home, having Ramen for lunch. I know it's something that a person is supposedly supposed to grow out of around about the time they leave college, but I still like the stuff. It's hot, it's filling, and I actually like a couple of the varieties. Also it's cheap. And in the...

Thanks, dear! Bassets are the best.

We still eat ramen too, although I only use a portion of the seasoning packet to cut down on the sodium. If you throw in a few vegetables, it can actually be quite healthy. Yay for beards!

Relaxed weekend. Spent some time with family and with friends. Had to drive down to San Antonio with my youngest (half)brother since my motorcycle is in the shop for a while. Turned out the engine leak was fairly significant. Throw in a drive chain that is badly overdue for being changed out and some other items...it all adds up pretty quick.

anyhow. spent some time...

I may try to head over there in the medium term. before all that I have to wait a year in portland before my girl finishes school and then I'm going to try to go to graduate school.

For the time being I just need something to pay the bills in in PDX.

Starting and managing a personal design group is far too much work to handle. It'd suck my energy, and i prefer to keep it to create !

home. looooooong weekend, but mostly fun. Had my training weekend for the Marine Corps reserves for the month. the usual level of running in circles and administrative bullshit. also slept outside last couple of nights. wasn't too bad actually. It got down to about 30 degrees last night, but my sleeping bag was warm enough. the trick is to sleep naked.
seriously.

did a fair...

Drove down to San Antonio late last night on the motorcycle. It was 42 degrees. Today it is 75 degrees. YAY Texas winters.

Hope you are all having an awesomely amazing Holiday Season and getting to spend it with the friends and family of your choice....and if not...then at least your family isn't driving you entirely insane as I am sure mine will do this...

Cleaning up my apartment I realized that the only things in my freezer are ice, chocolate, and vodka.

Also, I am feeling particularly stabby towards a couple of internet retailers. Both I ordered from a couple weeks ago and it was indicated that my stuff would get here by Christmas to give as presents. Now it turns out that neither has even shipped my order...

It pays up to the maximum amount a resident would pay in that state's most expensive public school for up to the amount of units that is considered full time (15 units maybe).

So for Oregon you get like a max of 6-something thousand. In CA it's like 7-something. In DC it's like 3-something. In, like Michigan, it's like up to 10-something thousand.

The problem is that what seems simple at first gets very complicated and no official regulations have been announced. So if you're like me and trying to plan for next year it's all guess-work. EVen the VA people don't know yet.

Supposedly for some people in online situations sticking with the MGIB makes more sense. You can do that if you want.
