Something that keeps me up at night
Abstract: God (The Christian God, specifically) is often referred to as "The Good shepherd," and the bible itself (both old and new testaments) are filled with referrences to Christians as "The flock" as well as images of sheep and shepherds. That being said, I must bring to light the intentions of the shepherd in general:
To guard the sheep and keep them safe until they are ready to be sheared or slaughtered.
Therefore, is God as benign as he seems? If he is the "Good Shepherd," and we are his "Flock," are we being led to a slaughter, or just the stripping of our "Warmth and protection?" (Note, That is the best I could think of to describe wool.) If my question rings true, then what is our purpose? Are we food or supplies for some divine farm, or is there some "God, Inc." selling our "Fleece" for some strange profit?
