FUck bro. I know what you mean. I was in a marriage that ended. It was a christian marriage (i have since gone back to my true form).
I'm as selfless as I can be in relationships too and have this overwhelming desire to build a life that is in complete complement to a girl who feels for me what I feel for her.
It's crazy to think about sometimes, but I think the love thing can only be shown with actions and proving the love, not just saying it. we all know that words are shallow and most of the time we can't even keep a promise to meet a friend for lunch on time or lie to not hurt someone's feelings. True love is without fear of rejection. it is complete and understanding and most of all... you can tell it's love.
Having said that... I'm not an expert.

Every other week my ex calls to tell me something else that breaks my heart, though I am getting kind of used to it now. I don't really know your situation, but I figured I could either be angry or just let everything go and float, as you say. It's gotten so much easier not caring one way or the other. Hatred and anger are sill emotions devoting energy toward something and someone that no longer deserves your energy. But I can totally relate to the not sleeping thing. I barely slept when we broke up. It's going on three months for me. I am only now really starting to get a perspective on the whole thing and more so on where I want to go in life. Good luck.
