The main reason for posting that video is bit at the end where the soldiers talk about the recognition they don't get back home from the British public who seem utterly indifferent to what the army is doing and going through. Last time I really got to flex my French was backpacking through Europe a number of years ago. It was great, because in Quebec, the locals get snooty when they hear you "butchering their language" so they'll switch to English right away. But I had a head start on that one as I read about them when some brain-donor at work wanted to pick an argument about how advanced our society was to some places in Asia etc. I explained that we were clearly no more than 40 years ahead as this country's government and crown was still executing people just one generation ago.
Countries need to be allowed to develop at their own pace as far as possible. Fucking too much with that is like fucking with the space-time-continuum in Back to the Future.
