I just got back from graduation. Ten of my students did something they never thought they would. My favorite student was awarded student of the month and a scholarship by the district, and because I nominated her I got to give a speech and present her with her diploma, and a check to be used for her further education. After the ceremony, she ran up and hugged me, sobbing. "Oh, Keri," she said, "I never thought I would get through high school, let alone get a scholarship to college! You saved my life!" She gave me flowers. I want to have them laminated so I can keep them forever. I want to keep that feeling forever.
I'm so glad I got fired eight months ago. Life sure is funny, isn't it?
