Yeah, I believe it was because he use a long line of 1's and 0's with no break, and the site layout script couldn't break it up, and it may have caused site display problems. I don't think it was deleted because of offensive content. It was a technical issue, I believe.

I only recently started posting and reading the posts and stuff, and when I saw that thread on the top of the list, I said, "Ooo. Let me see what's here."
Then I noticed the thing was over a month old. And that it got pretty bad. And I wanted to say "Shhhh!" to the two people who had to resurrect this thing, but then thought better of it, as I didn't want to perpetuate it.
I mean, really. I fully support letting things die when it's their time. Or far, far beyond their time.

Stirring the pot over a silly controversy that may have happened when you weren't on the site isn't helping your cause, and only makes you look like the asshole.

That's #2. I wasn't even trying. I was hoping that would go to Silliness. More food for thought for me. The decision is becoming clearer and easier to make.

Two things I find disconcerting, maybe I'm wrong.
TOS are not even close to being evenly and fairly enforced. Of course there will always be gray areas and interpretations, but things seems like this new/old group of trolls is getting away with stirring shit up, while some of the more established people, who in my opinion, were swept under the rug, as it were. I have no idea why this seems to be happening.
I think the frustration comes from the fact that for many of us, this is our main discourse with like-minded individuals, and when someone comes into the group with no other purpose than to incite anger by starting inflammatory, bigoted threads, and doing the same in other threads, without actually adding anything new or of value to the discussion, it is taken a a personal affront. We treat it like a disease and react accordingly. Fever has a purpose, it rids the body of infection. This is not to say that just because I disagree with an opinion, I don't think it should be censored, but if one starts something just to troll and bait, one will get what one deserves. There were many calls for moderation in several of those threads, and they all seemed to go unheeded, until the damage was already done.
I hope I'm wrong.

The unbelievably sanctimonious attitude of certain members regarding how we should feel, what we should post, how often, if at all, the legitimacy or illegitimacy of someone else's emotions, opinions and attitudes etc..blah blah blah blah.....
Nothing elitist there.
So maybe we should be more civil to each other. No argument there. My point is, some people come in, disrupting the civility we normally show each other, for no other reason than to be an asshole. I'm sorry, there are just some people that are total dicks, no mater how civil you are to them. They need to be removed, like a cancer, before they cause more damage, and cause us to fight amongst ourselves. Divide and conquer!

Basically, if I can't be myself here, within certain limits of course, there's really no point in being here. Besides, I actually do have like a wife, kids and, you know, A FUCKING LIFE!!
