So.. this weekend was ECCT 2008.... How do I describe it? Lots of fun, but easily one of the worst weekends I've had in a REALLY long time.... let me explain...here's how that works...
So, I'm brand new to SG and have been looking forward to ECCT so that I could get to know the SG and SGNJ/SGNY peeps better... Thursday while I'm at work I can barely sit still I"m so freakin anxious to get on the road.
I leave work at 5 and drive to GetFighted's house, to meet up with her and Infinity. Infinity got out of work late (not his fault)..but this made it so we didn't leave for ECCT until 7 (about an hour later than we wanted to - for what should have been a 4 hour ride). We have to make one stop at GetFighted's parent's house to drop off her car and pick up a loaner. WELL - GetFighted's car had no air conditioning (we were dropping it off to get it fixed, while at camping). We pick up another car (also without air conditioning). We unload all of our shit out of the first car (and believe me...it was packed beyond it's full capacity) and into the new car... to find that the trunk doesn't shut. Yes - the trunk DOES NOT close. After fighting with it.. in the 90degree heat FOREVER... we decide to do this..
So we get on our way and realize... the loaner car has no gas. We finally find a gas station as we putt putt putt our way in...running on fumes. We finally get to the campground and meet our first mates and CAMP NO PANTS!!! (aarrghh!!!) Yes. we had the best site, with the coolest Pirates... and no pants after dark... freaking awesome. We shared a cabin with Arbitraria, zoomusikgirl, rickrolled, JustBlaze, and JadeAngel (all of whom were completely awesome, and made me feel so welcome less intimidated since I'm a noob!)
Thursday night was fun... I met a few new people and got to know others I'd met before better (like Sharona1881, TootsiePop) - luv ya girls!!
Friday I woke up...in a pool of my own sweat since it was HOT AS BALLS! The heat and I don't mix well...so I was kind of out of commission for most of Friday until my body adjusted.
Saturday was nice. We got dressed up for the wedding, went back to Camp No Pants for dinner... then hung out at the main fire for the last night of trip.
We headed out to go home around noon on Sunday. We pack the car back up...duck tape the trunk shut again...and head on our way. The car we are in has no air conditioning, and it was 90+degrees (gross!). We get to the shop where we have to trade cars... to find out that GetFighted's car isn't ready, and won't be until Tuesday. Now all three of us are livid. It's hot and gross and the car we're driving is a piece of shit and there is no way we are going to make the 4hr trek back to Jersey in this hoopty!
We go to GetFighted's parent's house (which is only about 10 mins away from the repair shop) and we basically break down in her living room. Her parents are THE BEST! They basically fed us, cleaned us up, lifted our moods, and gave us a bigger car with air condition for the rest of the trek... LUV THEM!).
While at Mamma and Papa GetFighted's house - I can finally charge my phone enough to check my voicemail. I have a call from my ex to call him. He had my car over the weekend while I was camping and was going to put new brakes on it. He tells me that not only was he not able to put the brakes on...but while he had it the ignition switch blew out. So my car doesn't start. Oh yeah... and that THIS happened to my car
Who does this shit happen to? Oh wait... ME! You have to see this shit in person - it actually went thru the one door and is lodged in the door on the other side. Fucking awesome.
I'm not going to sit here for the next hour and spell out how this whole situation makes me feel because I'm sure you can imagine. I'm dirty, and hot, and my spirit is broken at the moment. I need a nice cold shower and a stiff drink.
So yes... this is how I had an amazing yet COMPLETELY shitty weekend....
