Shooting with Me
I say this a lot, “It’s all about the eyes.” I know this is subjective, it’s just my opinion. I want the model to look into the camera, as if they’re looking at someone. I don’t want the model to look like they’re looking into a camera lens. Even if you’re posing in a way that can only mean you are modeling, the eyes should be engaging.
@in_su has very engaging eyes Hopeful Set coming soon
Something else I say, “Relax your lips.” This normally means you’re doing duckface, or some pursed lips variation of a ‘selfie’ look, or over exaggerating your lips in general. When you’re engaging with someone in real life you don’t make a “selfie facial expression” well, not normally I’m guessing lol. Your lips should look as they would if you were engaged in some way with a person.

ON LAND
Relaxed parted or closed lips, small smiling, big smile, teeth/no teeth smile, biting the bottom lip, some examples of good lips. There are exceptions for sure, comedic poses and pin up for example could have exaggerated looks. In my opinion, exaggerated lips give off a ‘look at me, I’m modeling' kind of a poser vibe, it's ok for having fun with selfies, but not if you’re modelling. The ‘selfie look does not break the 4th wall. It takes away from the connection between the viewing audience and model. Practice actual emotions and expressions If there’s a part of the face to work on, it is eyes. I’m looking for 4th wall breaking modeling ;)
