Well, this weekend went a little topsy turvy.
I got told at 3:15 on Friday that my boss couldnt make it out to Laughlin to do our inspections, so that meant I had to go. Not asked, told. And the reason why....her husband that has been threatening to leave her for the entire 5 years I've known her, was REALLY going to do it this time. RIIIIIGHT.
So I call Dave and tell him I can't go to the movies with him and will call him when I return to town (which I apologize for not doing so...but it's been insane) and head to Laughlin.
So I check into my hotel in the middle of some butthole town with nothing to do but get tattoed and gamble (neither of which I can do because pay day is sometime in the middle of this week) and get a phone call from my hunny, Jeff...who's home on military leave before he heads off to Iraq.
Suddenly I feel no need to be in Laughlin. So Saturday AM, I get up and do some of my inspections, and drive back home to go to Jeff's BBQ. I spend the afternoon surrounded by both current and ex-marines watching them get drunk and fuck with each other. Yes, this is a good thing. Also met a really cool, intelligent, funny guy who showed up in a dress (all qualifications for my attention)
Then I get a phone call from Stephen who's twat of an ex just had him served with custody hearing papers because she took off with the kid & disappeared, but now she is complaining he never pays child support. Women are stupid, where can he send it? The North Pole?! So we hung out & played Super Mario Bros. & had a cookout with his mom & drank til 3 in the AM.
And on Sunday I spent the day hiking with Jeff & Mike until dusk, then I drove out to Laughlin to finish my inspections.
I'm going to miss Jeff so much, I hate that he has to go over there, I wish I could send some random asshole who cut me off on the highway...I mean those fuckers that drive like pricks on the 215 think they are invincible, lets send them into combat and see if it's true.
So while I never made it to the movies with Dave (and I am very sorry) I got to spend a ton of time with someone who I dearly miss. It was awesome to just talk for hours and not have a 500 dollar phone bill.
This Friday is first fridays at the ART center and joining up with Jeff and Mike to see some band play at Green Valley Ranch. It's nice to be able to drink again, it's kinda like being able to breathe again

Sorry to hear that your honey is headed to Iraq. I totally agree about the ass hole drivers. The Boeing drivers up here are fucking crazy.
