Something I have said for at least 20 years, and only continues to increase in it's accuracy. Two things that used to be common but are no longer, common sense and common courtesy. Despite all my many flaws, I can say with great pride that I have both in abundance. Common sense should be easy. Is that going to hurt or kill me, or someone else? If yeah, then I probably shouldn't do it. And common courtesy is just basically the golden rule. "Treat others as you wish to be treated." Am I saying you should be friends with everyone you meet? Oh most certainly not. But, you can give everyone you meet the same basic respect all humans deserve from one another. Now, whether or not they go up, or down on the respect scale is entirely up to their actions toward you. They wanna be jerks, then they can go down on the respect scale, but should they be of the mind that a modicum of respect is due everyone. Then I feel that deserves equal respect and admiration, and thus they increase on the respect scale. If we were all just a bit more cordial to one another, I feel like that would be a step in the right direction. TY for reading, rant over.
