For the record, if Jello Biafra does a spoken word in your area, don't go see it. Or, if you do, bring a barrel of rotten tomatoes. He sucks.

The past month or so has been weird. I got a new job, finally. Not my dream job, but I need a job to kill time until I (hopefully) start grad school in September. Here's hoping that this time next year I'll be studying screenwriting out in LA.

My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer a few weeks ago. It was a huge shock, but she's going to be okay. It's mostly small cell cancer, so they say that she has about an 80% chance of remission, which is really good. She's gone through 2 rounds of chemo so far and she's responding to it really well, Surprisingly well, actually.

I've decided to move back home because of that, and also to save myself some rent money so I can save up to move out to LA in September. I don't like the stigma of being a 22 year old living with mom and dad, but a) it's only temporary b) there are extenuating circumstances and c) it's a lot better than living in my apartment with 2 strangers who I never talked to which was getting really awkward. So my life now consists of a lot of work, writing, and trips up to Worcester to do some partying/go to poetry readings. And somehow, I feel a lot better about my life than I did a month ago. That's not the way it should be, not after all that's happened and considering where I am in my life right now, but somehow I feel happy and content. There's a little unease at being stagnant and waiting for acceptance letters from grad schools that might never come. And I'm concerned about my mom, but with the chances they've given her, I'm not too concerned. I think she'll be okay. For the most part, I'm okay right now.

I'm glad to hear that things are okay for the most part, and I shall keep your mother in my thoughts.
