I am a slut for boots. Cowboy boots, to be specific; although a nice pair of riding boots can ring my bell also. Ok, also motorcycle boots. And those black lace up leather ones, that never get to come out of the closet anymore....
Periodically, I haunt Ebay for treasures. I give myself a $50 limit, and sometimes I luck out.
I own 14 pairs...

Hey I see that you will be coming to New England in the fall and you wanted some advice on where to go. I have to tell you that the Berkshires in Massachusetts is HIGHLY overrated and overpriced. I should know, my job requires me to make the 60 mile trek twice a day up there. The only thing I see on a regular basis up there is pollution and crappy looking houses. If you don't mind pollution, etc. I would suggest you go to Boston where you can do MUCH more on WAY less money wink

The nice thing about being used to falling is that you get better at picking yourself up.

Bought a cheap plane ticket to Boston in October, and will rent a car....just going to throw my sleeping back and tent in a duffel(along with some thermal undies)and sleep where I can find a spot. I am going to indulge in serious fried clam and lobster roll...

Saw my ex today, with whom I am evidently still in love......with his pretty, thin, young, new girlfriend.

I want to curl up on the floor and howl like a dog. I want to self destruct. I want to go to sleep and not wake up for awhile.

The good:
Being a hero to my niece
Getting paid in herbal lovin' by my bro
Finding out I get to do a cooking demo with Aunt Pearl from Greater Tuna
Getting a new hole in the ear
Planning trips
Homegrown tomatoes
Single malt

The bad:
Musicians who cancel their gig at the last minute due to "illness"
People who drive 55 in the left...

Apparently, I accidentally stirred crack into my coffee this morning, because I have done the unthinkable.

I agreed to take my 13 year old niece to the midnight Harry Potter release at Barnes and Noble. eeek

I just spent an hour in line to get a wristband that will entitle us to join the hoard of muggles getting facepainted, and eating free candy. The goddam Starbucks...

Hi,
I am feeling much better thank you, but I think my b/f is absolutely freaked out. I guess it is to be expected. Can you imagine someone 42 who has never dated someone with mental illness? I guess it comes from being from England. America, drives you to insanity.

Anywho, this is absolutely hysterical, but I think other than trying to stay up that late, it should actually be quite cute. smile

My little sis reads harry potter, but she's 20! LOL. She's not like an uber fan, but she insists that they are "good books, that aren't just for kids." I'm sure she's right, but I still can't bring myself to read them. tongue Good luck with that. It should be insanity, fun times. biggrin

Thanks for commenting on my photoset. I'm glad you liked it. Semi-public nudity, is pretty fun. blush

I have a week's worth of vacation time I have to use up before mid-November(yeah, waaaah, f'ing waaaah). I have no money. I want to get out of town!!!
Options:
The Guadalupe Mountains/Chisos/Big Bend(Chili Cookoff)
Buffalo River in Arkansas
New Mexico-damn a bowl of green chile stew would be good.

And the option that is most tempting but least sensible:
fly somewhere I've never been...

I hate it when I have a really good day, but end up going to bed feeling sad.

Note to self: do not vow to be more responsible financially and then go to the damn record store. (Peter Himmelman, John Dee Graham, Carter Family, Americana compilation, Joe Strummer) So much for THAT paycheck........

Oh, and I'm going to see Etta James on Wednesday. Etta is a goddess, and I am so damned looking forward to her show.

And then on Saturday, Chris Whitley...

Youre seeing Etta James!!! Man, I am so jealous. I saw her at the House of Blues in Hollywood a couple years ago and that was one fantastic show.

They tore my old restaurant down. Don't know who "they" are, but today there is nothing left but rubble and a bulldozer.
Once upon a time, I was a kickass chef. I still am, I guess. Just in a holding pattern. The only part of the restaurant biz I don't miss is the 70 hour, 6 day work week. I loved the adrenaline of Friday...

here's to you Canyon Cafe!

i know what a wierd feeling that can be.
there was a movie theater i worked at in college for four years. it's where i met my ex-husband.

i was devastated when it was smashed. i had to go take a brick from the rubble and save it.

i'm silly that way.

My mother died 8 years ago today. We had a complicated relationship, as do most mothers and daughters, I guess. I never truly believed she loved me until about a week before she died. I had just driven to Corpus from Austin, I was dog tired, and I just went and laid down on the bed with her. We looked at each other for about...
