I have a week's worth of vacation time I have to use up before mid-November(yeah, waaaah, f'ing waaaah). I have no money. I want to get out of town!!!
Options:
The Guadalupe Mountains/Chisos/Big Bend(Chili Cookoff)
Buffalo River in Arkansas
New Mexico-damn a bowl of green chile stew would be good.

And the option that is most tempting but least sensible:
fly somewhere I've never been before, rent a car, and try something new. I've never been to New England in the fall. I wonder about RENTING a camper up there?

I can get an early November round trip flight to London for $350.....haven't been there in a couple of decades.

Portland or Seattle...always good. Vancouver, VanIsland......

All this is contingent on NOT needing surgery.....
