it's that time of year that my friends and i start weighing our end-of-the-year lists - usually albums of the year, but with some freestyle expansions over the years.

any of you peeps out there got some year-end big ups to toss around? i'd like to hear them... once mine are set, i'll be sure to share.

my buddy chad is in town for a couple weeks, looking forward to hanging with him some, although he has yet to raise his head since the girl flew out of town...

work has been busy but looking up in the tolerable department - more communication with the boss-type has been good for my morale.

the girl has been very sweet and fun since i...

My new year? Good, busy, strange - quit my old position to go back to school and do contract work on the side. Right now I feel like Keanu Reeves in "Point Break" when he jumps out of the plane with just a gun.

It's _damn_ cold here, but I'm sure it will get colder. I read an excerpt of that Klosterman book - something I'd definitely like to get around to reading.

Edited to add: I'm sorry that the recent Shadow record isn't as accessible - I fell into this one the moment I listened to it all the way through.

the year seems to be drawing to a close with a whisper for me, and it's nice. ready for a real, new, phase to begin.

and ready to whoop it up at G's party with grady1 and chizad and the rest of the boys tomorrow night. yee-uh.

new year's eve has always been one of my favorite nights - the last few have been real...

Hope your new year's was great.

It's a movie that looks like it cost about $5 to make - when I first saw it years ago, my first take was, "What is this garbage?" I couldn't stop watching, and by the end I was scared out of my mind. I remember images from it (the transmission from the future, the devil's hand coming towards the mirror) so well.

It all came back to me listening to Endtroducing (bought it last week) - I had heard it before, but didn't remember it being this good.

I see I'm not the only one that hasn't been updating. Ha ha....I hope you had an awesome New Year's. I wish you the best. Talk to you soon!

caught up in the holiday whirlwind, haven't been around here much at all...

hope everyone's holiday was good - or at least was lived through.

i come back refreshed, engaged (!) and ready to touch base with everyone... once i get a drink.

so the girl's flight home tonight from NYC got canceled.

that means i don't have to pick her up at o'hare at 11:30 tonight (good)

but it means i'm left alone in the house yet another night to rattle around and get into trouble (not so good)

plus, i miss her! (waaah)

ah, but there's still beer in the fridge.

Nice work on the low key weekend, man. You're right, I definitely understanding the need to remove yourself from the fray for a while these days. Based on that, I didn't think twice about not hearing back from you the other day.

I'm still around for a while. I leave the evening the 23rd and come back the morning of the 29th.
thistle:
ah beer. certainly not as good as a girlfriend, but better than most things for getting into trouble.
yes, nikki is like a foot and a half taller than everyone. i also think unknowns would be the best.

so all yesterday was burned up in a haze of xmas shopping - malls devour time, i found.

but, i was rather successful. given i won't have a lot of free time between now and the holiday, it was necessary and productive.

today i am just being a lump at home - i feel like a hermit, haven't talked to anyone in the last 36...

the wmd's were just a half-decent reason to go in and take out a high-profile bastard... i sincerely doubt they'll EVER find them.

and, unfortunately, your average voting citizen could give a shit.

i'm gonna try to borrow my friend nick's copy of pattern recognition... i've been running seriously low on reading material lately.

i figure that eventually SOMETHING'S gotta give... you know, people will get tired of being bullshitted on a 24/7 basis. of course, i'm usually wrong about these things.

Nice work on the Stephen Beachy research. I'm sorta surprised that he's still alive. The other book he wrote lists on Amazon for $50 and is part of a series called Gay Men's Fiction, so I'm not surprised it never crossed our path.

Haven't had a chance tp talk to you since Sunday, but that night has helped carry me through a busy week. Good, good times, my friend...

thistle:
yes i did know that!!!! i am so excited!! i wonder who will play nikki, he's my favorite.
