ps. I'm using the stupid favourite friends thing now b/c I hate the new friends interface and it's mega-annoying to keep flipping tabs to the people I most frequently comment on. This does not imply I like any of you other people any less. Man I miss the old interface.
pps.I want to see all my friends without flipping... Read More
Amazing how it can be so easy to not have these thoughts if someone else were just in the room with you.
I've also found that while putting off spraying your pets with the flea/tick stuff you tend to re-evaluate your living situation, whereas while playing pac-man you tend to re-evaluate your relationships and friendships.
I just went through a mini-hazmat incident in my own home.
I'm sitting at my computer and I hear a loud crash in the kitchen beside me. The wind blew two fluorescent tubes off my kitchen counter. Stupid place to leave them I know. So I'm sitting there, looking at the white powder curling up in this big dust explosion, thinking that maybe I shouldn't... Read More
So, you're saying the best way to dispose of my four foot fluorescent bulbs WASN'T to put on a pair of leather gloves, take them down into the basement, double wrap them in garbage bags, cover them with a towel on the floor, and hit them with a hammer until they were in little pieces?
It's surly's birthday next week. In celebration he's giving ME a present, by coming up to visit for a week.
We've planned a few things, most notably spending the Saturday daytime at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. I'm still trying to think of a suitable birthday gift for mr. surliness. *ponder*
I watched Solaris last night -- the remake. Hey, guess what... I cried again! I could probably watch Booty Call or something like it and bawl my eyes out. I liked Solaris. To sum up the premise of this scifi:
I feel like I watched that movie, and yet I remember nothing. I don't think I loved it.
I think that I can't do the trip, I'm too conflicted to be able to really enjoy it, and I think I want the time later on. maybe if I had more time to plan ahead. I'll wait and see what he says after he does some more thinking. He didn't just get married, and I talk to him often enough that I don't feel like I never see him, and I did just see him last weekend in NY, so I think I'm ok with passing on it. We'll see what he says.
-Um, you do recall that I end every single comment I ever make on the site with signing my name, right? I don't imagine how you could out me. Dave
I was listening to cat music just now (The Black Keys: Rowr rowrrrrr Rowr ROWR ROWR ROWR), and sorta killing time until I can go downstairs and have a free washing machine.
After that I'm off to buy shorts, superglue (I broke two things this week), fluorescent tubes and flowerpots.
The UV index is high today. I went out and bought some spf45 sunscreen, and... Read More

BTW we are all coming over to your neck of the woods for crissy 07 YAY it has been my dream to ski and board the bugaboos for years.
I just watched a documentary about same-sex marriage in the US called Tying the Knot. Yeah, I shed more tears. It's just so fucking unfair.
My friend Groove has a personal story about a gay couple he knows who are currently going through hell because they never had the option of getting married.
I come from Virginia, a state where the Republican-majority not only banned gay marriage a few years ago, but rolled back the rights same-sex couples already had. As I understood it, Virginia's laws became the most restrictive nationally. Here's a link about the rally I attended two years ago, about VA House bill 751.
In lighter news, I hate to say it but a strawberry-laden sponge cake was one of the many food items to kinda... err not get eaten, due to gigantic amounts of food at the party yesterday. Don't know if it was salvagable or not. Table items were kinda in the hot sun all day.
I didn't mention that earlier this week I went out and bought a hideously expensive universal calendar, dry wipe message board and pegboard. Well I did. I put it up on my fridge (it's got magnets!), and I listed a bunch of stuff I have to do. The list is mighty daunting, but I'm starting on it today.
