Someone from work gave me a book today, which she says she found in airport bathroom in Ottawa. On the front cover is a yellow sticky which reads:
I'm FREE! I'm not lost! Please pick me up, read me, and help me with my journey! (see inside)
Inside is a bookplate indicating that a lady in Ottawa had sent the book out to be circulated as part of a worldwide experiment, with reference to: www.bookcrossing.com
The book, The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy, looks interesting. I love the idea of a global library, the serendipitous nature of it, and the community aspect, but I wonder about the royalties these authors will be losing. I might release a few of my own books in public, but I don't know that I care if anyone tracks them. It seems cool to just let it go where it will without knowing.
