I've been watching a lot horror movies lately. I'll qualify that, I've been watching a lot of BAD horror movies lately, including White Noise, Hide and Seek, and The Grudge. I would like to point out that none of these were my picks. I did pick out and watch The Changeling, a seminal horror movie from the '70s, and was amused by how many scenes and images were later ripped off by other movies, including The Grudge
So, in the spirit of the horror movie cliche, I've started compiling a list of Creepy Things. Feel free to add to it.
--bathtubs filled with water (especially at night), double it for bathtubs filled with murky water. (see The Grudge, Saw, whatever)
--mirrors (especially in the dark)
--children's stuffed toys, yeah, especially clowns (sorry, surly). I guess it's the absence of life, the golem.
--phonecalls in the middle of the night -- they never bode well.
-- snow on a television (see a gazillion movies, thank you Poltergeist and Videodrome)
--hair, well hair no longer attached to a human head, such as victorian death souvenirs... also teeth.
--basements, attics. I guess because they are the dead areas of the house, where stuff is stored.. which leads me to...
--boxes. think about it. ok, maybe I need therapy.
--placid lakes (thank you, Jason Vorhees)
--old files...redundant, dusty, dead.
--when your cat/dog is staring at something you can't see. (thanks L!)

The last horror movie I was watching was 28 Days Later. I watched about 1/2 hour of it, then stopped because it seemed the movie only had two possible directions: 1) total bleak-ness, or 2) ridiculous happy ending. Watching the events of the first 30 min. unfold, it seemed there was no other alternative.
