I'm not thinking about how soon it is until I leave. I'm not, honestly! I'm going to savour my last few hours here with surly.
I'm also not going to think about how rough my financial situation is going to be for a few weeks when I get back. I had a long shower just now and thought up a possible itinerary for when I get back. I'm not sure why, but I do my best, most fearless thinking in the shower. I hesitate to compare it with being in a womb. I will say that I do feel safe and creative in the shower.
At any rate, I think I've thought up a schedule which includes exercise (and eventually gym when I can afford it), cleaning my mom's for a few hours every day, making it to work, and having a little recreation. I'm keeping my weekends clear of cleaning my mom's. I figure if I do it on the weekends as well, I'm gonna go nuts pretty quickly.
But back to savouring. On Wednesday a bunch of SGers and friends of surly and I went out to Lucky Strike and bowled a few games. I found out, amongst other things, that I can bowl a strike (but only ONE
), that Surly bowls like a murloc (a little WoW reference), that a bunch of you bowl like ringers. Surly was swimming in the lanes. I've never seen style like his. The Force is strong with him.
Afterwards we all headed to Harry's in Burbank and ate greasy diner food at 1am. After much conversation and laughter(including a discussion of penis splitting in the parking lot), we headed home. It was grand.
Yesterday I woke to an intense case of acid reflux. Apparently cheeseburgers, apple pie and coffee in the wee hours is not good for your digestive system. Odd!
After spending a few hours recovering, Surly and I went off to meet his friend M, who works at Universal on Crossing Jordan. He gave us a tour of the lots and the production areas. Surly and I got pictures in front of the Psycho house and the 747 wreckage from War of the Worlds. The most fascinating part of the tour, for me, was seeing the writers' creative process -- how the ideas get pitched, organized, worked on. And then how the script gets approved for accuracy and legal clearance. M told us some interesting stories about working on the show.
Last night, surly and I curled up with icecream and watched horror movies. Who knew mutilation could be romantic?
Thank you to capnvik, suzy_kabloozy, thrashead, rawr_ima_monster and grendel_kin for coming out and making bowling so much fun!
Must go now. Surly's nearby and I want to, um, savour.

Oh, and that was too bad about the catsitting thing. I'd be sick if something like that happened, either to mine or anyone's I know. The kitties do have a lot of upside, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably stop at two or maybe three.

But again, I'm jealous that you got to tour production facilities at Universal... did you get to see Jill Hennesey by any chance?! Rwowr..
Savour!!
