"When your world is full of strange arrangements
And gravity wont pull you through
You know youre missing out on something
Well that something depends on you
All Im saying, it takes a lot to love you
All Im doing, you know its true
All I mean now, theres one thing
Yes one thing that turns this grey sky to blue
Thats the look, thats the look
The look of love"

I'm feeling downish, sorta downish in that if my serotonin levels were stocks I'd be telling my broker to sell sorta way. Or maybe, if I thought I had the ability to wait it out, I'd instruct him to buy like a motherfucker. This is what happens when you cross an economics background with a personal history of mental issues.
The Great Depression.
Anyhow, so I'm sitting here listening to bad '80s music to snap myself out of it. It's impossible to feel poopy while immersed in the aural equivalent of squeeze cheese. Nauseous, yes. Poopy, no.
Last night I went to the Winnipeg installment of the Scrappy Bitch tour: Kinnie Starr, Oh Susanna and Veda Hille. The venue was rife with adorable lesbians and bichickadees, and seemingly emasculated males. Which reminds me, anyone got a good phrase for the male equivalent of a fag hag?
The venue was pretty full. My friend Shelly came up and pulled me over to a table of girls 10 years younger than me. I didn't mind.
The concert was great. The mixture of alt country (Oh Susannah), hiphop (Kinnie Starr), and piano mastery ala Tori Amos (Veda Hille) made me smile.
Speaking of smiling, I sucked up my courage and went and talked to Ms Hotness herself. Yes, I approached Kinnie Starr like the big hopeless fan dork that I am. We had a very short conversation, but she gave me a smile that practically shortcircuited my ability to walk away. Oh, and I bought the band whiskies when they expressed thirstiness. Yay me.
I think I'm back to '80s music. Elliott Smith does not for a happy mood make.
