"The long song with words of all kinds
the song sung it sparkles and shines
you paint the pools that lie on their backs
skip a stone and spit past the cracks

the loose song sung loose at my knees
the wind sing
for horseflies and bees

well who knows?
explain

the see song for sights your eyes find
your eyes knowed(gnomed) of colors and lined
the sad song as the weather held hands
the love song
stood loose but it stands

the movers
moved away
the song sung
let it stay
well who knows
explain."

-The Long Song by Devendra Banhart

Again sorry for the whole song, but how the hell do you cut beauty up?

Speaking of beauty and coincidence and all of the lovely interactions that occur here. I have to thank Azurite for linking me this in response to my suggesting I was coming back as a mote. Mote!

Carl Sagan. wow. brilliance and humility. His piece makes me think of the web of what we have here. I've not been visiting journals now much of late, but I've visited a few in the past day and I'd like to share some highlights of a couple.

I've been considering perspective. If you want an interesting take on perspective, check out woodstock1027 account of her trip to Burkina Faso. Her brother lives there. It's a brilliantly written series of entries on her trip to visit him. You will taste the red earth, I promise.

Or perhaps you'd like to visit Benin instead, and get the perspective of a young Belgian man from the early '80s? jimmyjoesnarkIII has written a terse account of a motorcycle jaunt through unstable territory. UPDATE: this is now back one journal. It's definitely worth the trip. smile

Cheech is revisiting music and his musical tastes, expounding on the role of the musical artist.

cutriver is finishing up his 6 movies in 7 days marathon. He's something of a movie buff, highly articulate and very amusing to read. Flip back a few journals if you'd like to see the full run of films.

It's been raining like crazy here, but apparently nothing like the rain in nirvana454's corner of the world. He's down with it. smile

My friend Heyoka is motorcycling through Spain at this very moment.

And for something completely different, vampirekitten11 talks about her new toy: a coroner's bodybag with an incredibly erotic zipper. She is the sex. shocked

So many amazing people, all of you: different, rare, connected. I look forward to every new experience you share with me. Thank you.

And on that note, I just successfully weaseled my way through a journal without writing anything original of my own. wink I'm jockeying to be the Reader's Digest of journals. surreal

"Chimera," eh? When did my "favorite word habit" wither away? Why can't I bring it back to life!

p.s. trixeltrix, I'm enjoying your word sprinkling.
