I would complain about my weekend, but I think that might turn out to be selfish. A number of my friends were involved in car crashes. A freakishly high number, actually - all unrelated to each other (it's not like they all ran into each other). All at once I'm panicked and relieved (because of course I hear about it afterwards when they're able to report that they're ok). Still others are going through serious drama - from breakups to robberies and places in between.
Regardless of denomination or faith or whatever, this winds up being a hectic time in peoples' lives. Not that there's ever a good time for the above to happen, but now just strikes me as a particularly bad time.
So positive vibes and {{{hugs}}} to everyone. Please do the same, with enough positive energy we can help shake this bullshit that's in the air.
I saw Big Fish over the weekend. It's a really great Tim Burton film. It's in limited release now, and opens wide on Christmas Day. There's a good chance that it will make your heart feel good. Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Jessica Lange and others all turn out some excellent performances. There's also the possibility that your heart will ache (mine certainly did), but it's not a bad ache at all (reminded me of how much I miss my grandfather). If you get the chance, you may want to check it out.
And of course on Wednesday Return Of The King opens. The books mean a lot to me, and it's good to know that they're being brought to the big screen by artists who love the books completely. The things which are different are changed for a reason, everything done seems to honor the original work. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to that.
