Instead of a proper update, I think I'll let my MP3 program speak for me. I put iTunes on random, below are the ten songs that followed (along with comments, if any)...

Muse - Apocalypse Please (live @ Glastonbury 2004)
Muse is one of my favorite bands for a lot of reasons, and I love this fucking track. I mean, how can you *not* love a song about the apocalypse?

New Order (with Ana Matronic of Scissor Sisters) - Jetstream
This is from 'Waiting For The Siren's Call,' a New Order album that slipped under the radar earlier this year. If you haven't picked it up, you should check into it. It's more of an electronic record than their last few releases, but still has a very distinctive New Order sound to it. This is one of my four or five favorite cuts on the disc.

The Ramones - I Just Wanna Have Something To Do
The Fucking Ramones!

Fluke - Absurd (Lanslide Mix)
Holy crap, this track is already 8 years old! Hard to imagine it's that old, it still fits in nicely with some of the best electronica/dance music released today. This is one of my favorite mixes, too. Another version of the song can be found on the Tomb Raider soundtrack.

Seed - Psycho Sol
This is a sort of lounge-y downtempo track from my friend Brian. He's done sound engineering work for film and television, as well as produced remixes for the likes of No Doubt (others too, but I can't remember). I don't think this is on a commercially available album yet, but you can hear it at various Southern California Moontribe events, as well as at The Mor Bar in LA.

Blondie - X Offender
Fuck yeah - from the early punk days, it's got sort of a fucked up pop music vibe to it. A truly classic track.

Kylie Minogue - Giving You Up (Riton Re-Rub Dub)
I'm not a fan of most of Kylie's work, but she does have some really standout tracks, and this is one of them. This remix is pretty twisted, and has a great bassline that could very well hospitalize you.

Nine Inch Nails - Burn (Live @ Coachella 2005)
I love this NIN track (originally from the soundtrack to Natural Born Killers), but to be completely honest the quality of this recording is total crap. Note to self, once I finish this list, dig up the original and play it - really loud.

INXS - Mystify
Sigh... INXS, goddammit. One of the greatest bands ever. EVARRR!!! If you don't already have this song somewhere in your collection, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. And then on the way home from the doctor's office, stop and pick up 'Shine Like It Does: The Anthology" which is a really perfect 2CD set covering the first 20 years of the band's career. Great music, and great liner notes.

Filter - One
A cover of the Three Dog Night song that the band did for the soundtrack to the X-Files movie, this song kicks so much ass it's not even funny. Really - it's like it kicks your ass, then it picks you up off the floor and makes sure you'll be okay, then it kicks your sorry ass all over again.

How's your MP3 player treating you?

Yeah, that's where I'm from... so I'm living with my mom for a while I guess, or my grandma, depending on which works out better.

MUSE is also one of my favorites..they remind me of when i heard Queen for the first time as a kid in the 70's, and it was like--"ok, now this something completely different"
