Blue Line Lounge and Grill
Liquor = yes
Food = NO!
I've heard some good things about the diner and finally managed to check it out. There is an extensive martini list which is interesting, but the martinis tend to be well on the sweet side, which works for some but not for me. The wines are available by the bottle as well as the glass, with a good but small selection. The only beers offered are by the bottle with nothing different from what one can get at another restaurant of similiar stature. Interesting liquor variety but very dark, and since I base bar quality more on the ability to read in the establishment; I would not return.
The menu was actually interesting with it's comfort food mentality, but I did not find any of the dishes I ordered comforting. Once I got the "Bavarian" pretzel appetizer and saw that there were no salt chunks on the pretzel, I realized I made a mistake. The entre comes with soup or salad, I chose the clam chowder, which the second best thing I had there; the chowder was a bit above chain restaurant standards. Incidently, the wine was the best part of my meal. The meat loaf, I ordered as a main course, was actually moist, but that may have been due to all the moist items added to the "stuffed" meatloaf, which was actually 2 slices of meatloaf with mashed potatoes (no flavor there), cheddar cheese, & bacon in between. Plus, it was topped with a BBQ sauce that completely overpowered everything else. I did not even bother inquiring about deserts.
The really interesting thing about "The Blue Line Lounge and Grill" was that they had 2 of they're tv's hooked up to a dvd player that played old/classic movies, but the rest of the tv's had sports stuff on them for some reason. It was a good reason I did not go to the establishment armed, because the music which was piped brought me to the verge of mass-killing; I never liked "Mr. Jones" when it came out, & I still do not like it. "The Blue Line Lounge and Grill" is a trendy establishment but not a food establishment; go to another restaurant.
