A quiet week-end...(rather dull, maybe?)... spent, mostly, with framing illustrations I did some years ago, and that are to be shown at an exhibition next week. I have still 20 to frame, and it could be fun if it had not to be done in a hurry.

I've been framed!

where is your exhibition going to be? (I got the impression from earlier comments that you're somewhere in France)

Oh, Brilliant Tororo! I would love to see an illustration of yours. Have you seen Brian Froud's "Good Fairies Bad Fairies?" That's one of my favorite books ever. Illustrator is by far my favorite program. I'm great at recreating what I see, but I wish I was better at caricature and a more illustrative style.
I'll have to check out Yoshitaka Amano. I'm trying to get back into reading more Asian literature.

I was intrigued by this book's title:"The Lone Ranger and Tanto fistfight in Heaven"... so, before a long train trip, I asked around in local bookstores which books by Sherman Alexie had been translated in french and were available. The only one they had was Reservation Blues... and reading it I was far from disapointed. As he has a very personal way of writing, next...

Now I think I am going to re-read Reservation Blues.

hello Tororo!
thank you for offering your support, I think I am a little too sensitive sometimes.
I do think you would really like the legendary pink dots. the are from amsterdam, but alot of thier fanbase is US & UK, I think...check 'em out if you can, if you would like I could even burn you a CD.

have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

Uh-oh. It seems I missed all the fun... I mean the the Personal Ad Day! at least I hope it was fun!
For those interested I 'll write a (belated) one:

I am: A wonder kid (now in his 50s... but who cares? really?). Queer, attracted by everything bizarre.
A bookworm. A cat person. A vintage movies lover.

I'm into: A former advertising graphic artist,...

Your english is really good. I'm going to learn to speak French and come over to Paris one of these days. If you're in the area maybe we can hang out.

Have you ever read Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. Just thought you'd be interested sense you're doing a graphic novel.
nazimova:
welcome back Tororo! I missed your wit & charm. I agree with sincity you speak english very well..

have you ever heard the legendary pink dots? the young at heart comment makes me think you would really love them, Edward Kaspell is just a giant kid after all. I would recommend "curse" or "the golden age" as first albums to introduce you.

glad to see your lovely posts again!!

Finally I'll end being doing stuff, instead of not doing stuff... in other words, I'll be, again, away from the keyboard for some time. It does'nt mean I forget you guys!

"After long thought and much perplexity, to be very brief was all that she could determine on with any confidence of safety."
Jane austen: Northanger Abbey

So, I'll be very brief, the decision is made. But will I plainly write: lots of work/ lack of will to do it?
Or borrow from ratsonjulia an equally adequate (probably better) formula: should be doin' stuff/ not doing...

gallicism? me=confused and stupid and too lazy to look in a dictionary. I am curous abotu this gift though....I've been making art for myself and my job-ish pursuits so much lately though that I'm getting a big time desire to make little trinkets for other people, so mayeb I understand Morgan's inability to WAIT, but then again, this pertains in no way to my need to be paid for making things.

the minature panther is a friends kitty I used to force my love upon, the kitty recently passed away which makes me sad so to cheer myself up I put the photo of us together, I think people fail to realize how magical animals are sometimes... that reminds me, I think we need to get morgan a monkey!

Where I live everything is so small that I cannot show you where my star is to be found.

I could exchange little prince quotes with you all day long!

I shall write you back tomorrow, by the way.
ratsonjulia:
you obviously don't live anywhere near David Hasselhoff.
he's HUGE.

This small Krazy Kat panel pleases me so much I think I will let him in place for some days more. It makes me grin everytime I check my page.
Seeing my own image instead doesn't make me grin so much.

it's wierd how skrewy our priorities get sometimes. I had my hand on a Krazy Kat anthology a couple of weeks ago & carryed it around the bookstore with me, finally balking at the stickerprice (something like 12 bucks) & setting it down, even tho I'd spent maybe three times that on beer later that day.
kinda wish I had the herriman 'stead of the hangover.
ratsonjulia:
going to SLC tommorrow (or tonight, if I can rouse up the ambition), & I think I'll just have to get that sumbitch--I can't remember where I first came across his stuff, but I think it was "the many lives of archie & mehitabel" (or the lives & times of..., whatever)
marquis & herriman--a match made in heaven (or at least a wildly amusing hell...)

I'll be away from the keyboard for some time.
A cute little comics character will replace me in the window, so most people won't notice anything.

i'm not sure if i understand your reasoning for wanting to put me on your friends list. i've never even talked to you or anything! not saying its not possible, just seems premature maybe?
