For complying with a request by ratsonjulia, now a serial (at least the pilot of it)

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET

For years she had not given any news. I had not forgotten her utter disdain for ordinary means of communication, and a letter from her was the last thing I was awaiting - not to say a postal package. I checked for the third time: no...

The newness of the year... the wishes (only the best of them)... the merriment... the happiness.... what else could one post about last week? So my recent entries were in no way original... For the present week, any suggestions are welcome.

I'll be away from the computer for some time.
A cute little comics character will replace me in the window, so most people won't notice anything.
This drawing is Debbie Drechsler.
I love her stories. Hooray for her!

Just read, in Le Magazine Littraire, an interview with Reiner Stach, author of a biography of Kafka whose first tome was just published in Germany. Excerpt:
"...Kafka's letters readers often conclude he was neurotic. Why, for example, the relation he had with Felice Bauer was mostly an epistolary one? Felice lived in Berlin, he lived in Prag, why did he not phone her, was not...

ratsonjulia:
this is what the demon box spat out:
Yo.

Thesis biographers, they always want to make it sound like they knew better than the people they biographize.

One of thesis books is called " When one does arrive "? and it's very very good. It's where thesis lines are from:

Who says filming says catering. Catering, modern version of the cantinire, as in to provide to the and to warn the. In the furnace of the Michigan septantrional, the Hollywood elite will endure a state of bewilderment of his/her/its intrapsychique I don't know what, and it will be incumbent us upon us that will receive it in our breast to produce the small supplementary effort that will succeed to a STB: Situation of Total Welcome.

--to a certain extent, yes. what we did wasn't exactly "catering" (altho that was part of it) every production had a caterer as well that provided two hot meals on location (on some of the lower budget pictures that caterer was off-site & delivered a few pre-made tins of entrees to the set via station wagon). we (to put it simply) picked up the slack for the rest of the time on the set. ideally, the craft service set-up should be a Situation of Total Welcome in that it's generally where the cast & crew converge to shoot the shit (when they're not getting smoked-up in the props truck, but ya didn't hear it from me)--altho realistically it's kind of a pain in the ass to try & be Rick's Cafe 12-16 hours a day, especially if you have to move every hour or two to be close to set but not In Shot, & I suppose we got a bit snarly & slack from time to time....

(next selection)

I would never have believed that I would finish in a mini-market. When I went in a mini-market and that I saw the person behind the counter in his/her/its gloomy blouse, I told myself: it is necessary that she/it made something of pain, otherwise she/it would not be there. One can make something of pain, but maybe that one didn't make it intentionally. Or maybe that one made it intentionally but that that was the thing that was badly, not to make it; are The things badly only after one made them, to the bottom, then how is one supposed to know? It is that that there is good in America, people don't watch behind them.

--damn! that's beautiful, even in the somewhat mangled (but, to my eyes, strangely enhanced) syntax of the Machine. I've not yet heard of the writer you cited, but I'll surely keep an eye out for him--you're recommendation is more than good enough for me.

--rats

p.s. I translated the entire "member page" & noticed that in the top left corner it asked me to "select a showgirl!"
tororo:
Apparently the machine doesn't know that in english "je ne sais quoi" usually translates "je ne sais quoi"...

hi tororo. i've had the same experience with writing for children - MAGAZINES = where the $$ is. middle readers and YA is a great market. i could write short stories for them all day long, not because i'm a great writer, but because it's fun! i was in big sur showing/selling my stained glass designs at a faire. BUT my dance troupe also lives there. the troupe is made up of bellydancers, sword dancers, flamenco dancers, fire performers, fan dancers, acrobats, and brilliant musicians. i'm actually working on a script for a performance we are doing next spring. hmmm. time goes by so fast. it's almost winter solstice. i hope this finds you well, warm and comfy.
ciao, nisi
rawr_ima_monster:
thank you for the welcome back, it's nice to hear from all of you again. The funny thing is not in relation to the job I have, but in relation to a job I might get. at least, I hope so.
-I drew a hampster a week ago for Toreena. When I scan it, I'll let you know. maybe it'll remind you of the good old hamster-days.

Saw Cronenberg's Spider... found it way more disturbing than "Element of Crime" or "Mulholland Drive". Or any Cronenberg movie so far. It made me think about the way mental disorders (generally speaking) are portrayed in movies. Not even speaking of the "fishing for Awards" Hollywood school of psycho movies; artist's fascination for madness is so great even in the movies produced outside this system, madness...

Kindom! Thats what it is called. I was talking about that show with someone this week and couldnt remember the name. I must see that...*mental note* Films about the mad freak me out. Im barely holding on myself at times, i fear pushing the wrong buttons. smile
rawr_ima_monster:
heeheehee. no, I am not a vegatarian, I just made a vegatarian food for the LA potluck thing. I ate plenty of animals at home. I don't really consider this a party, it was more of a family visit kind of thing. also, I haven't partied with the west coasters for a while, hopefully, I'll get a chance to next weekend.
-so I should make a movie where the crazy guy is just a terrible blastard lunatic and everyone hates him? even when you do thatpeopel become darkly fascinated by him, there's no way out of this trap.

Ugly November weather today again... something that's not totally rain, not exactly mist lurks behind the windows. It's probably partly made of raggedy clouds, too.

The weather of which you speak is a part of me ... its my essence. I do not expect any to understand, but know that all must be part of the whole for the whole is all parts of everything.

... and yes food is also a significant aspect in my life, however, any correlation was fully unintentional.

I will most likely change my pic soon. Please know that is it is not to be rude, but rather to be contrary ... for that is also a party of me.
