1/23: If you could go back in time and change one thing from your past what would it be? @bloghomework
(SPOILER ALERT: This is an emotional post)
Looking back on my past, I wouldn't say that things have ever been easy emotionally. A lot of people have different responses to this topic; some have things they would've changed and done another ways. Whereas, others like me don't want to change a single thing. I've learned a lot from the mistakes that I have made. Of course, I hate being told constantly "I told you so" but it's all about growth and knowing what YOU want out of life.
At first I didn't have a clue...
Let's go back to the year 2007, I started dating my first true love. He was in a sense my high school sweetheart, but not at the same time. How does that work you say? Well, I was in high school and he was in the Marine Corps. I fell deeply in love with him (or at least I thought I did at the time). Him and I dated for several years, until we married in April of 2010. During our marriage, there were happy times, stressful times and even scary times. He got out of the MC that year we got married, he made so many promises yet never kept any. Everything was falling apart and I felt completely alone even when I was with him daily. No one should ever feel the way I did. I was so frustrated and lost; we would argue to the point we would be screaming with one another. Our arguments would escalate to being physical and I never thought anything of it (right now you're probably shaking your head and thinking "how stupid can you be?"). The answer to that would be that I was "in love", I thought that everything would be okay. Eventually I gave up all hope of things ever being better; I gave up everything for him, yet, I let it go on for too long. I filed for divorce and it was finalized in September of 2011. That day was one of the worst days of my life, sitting in a court room with all those other people, agreeing to a divorce that I didn't want at the time because I still deep down loved him.
From this I learned a lot about myself; that I am strong, bright and there aren't any limitations to life. Take risks, grab life by the balls and ENJOY it!
My past shaped me into the woman I am today.
YOU still have a place on earth so SMILE! :D
