Fueling the Flames
Some comments I posted on somebodys facebook post:
There is no Islamic terrorist network, the CIA made it up. They just lumped them altogether. Al Qaeda is a conspiracy theory.
Marc Sageman, a psychiatrist and former CIA officer, said that Al-Qaeda would now just be a loose label for a movement that seems to target the west. There is no umbrella organization. We like to create a mythical entity called [al-Qaeda] in our minds but that is not the reality we are dealing with.
Its like how Nancy Pelosi wants to say the Tea Parties are artificial turf and not grass roots.
Honestly, I think government agents setting up the Times Square bombing makes the most sense. Its great PR, it gets people scared, makes you look like a hero, gives you an excuse to propose new programs youve had in the works. Whats a terrorist have to gain from this really? I wont rule it out tho. People are stupid and do stupid stuff. In the end violence doesnt make sense no matter who does it, so making sense of it might not make much sense. But I think violence is counterproductive and gives the government fuel to expand.
Terrorists and governments have something in common they feed on peoples fear.
