With the uncontrollable fires tearing through the island of Lahaina, Hawaii, my heart is breaking. People looting and holding others up at gunpoint just to survive. I serve all of Northern California to keep all your utilities on (gas and power line electric), I serve my local communities of Livermore and Pleasanton as a volunteer Disaster Worker. Now I'll be serving on a National and International level as a volunteer Disaster Worker as well with the American Red Cross (where I renew my CPR/AED/First Aid every two years), as required by my labor union (IBEW LU 1245).
All the training is provided without costs, but it's not my first rodeo. As I'm use to working in dangerous environments, a former EMT working BLS in the Tri Valley, and ALS in San Francisco. Out at job sites with unpredictable PSI gas levels or down power lines out in the pouring rain. This Tuesday, I have a meeting with LP Fire CERT for Telecom. Wednesday, I need to meet up with the LP Fire EMS Manager at PPD to get hard badged, which gains me FBI and DOJ level access. Then an in person meeting later in the evening with LP Fire CERT.
Here we go on yet another adventure...
