Had a job interview at Skywalker Ranch in 2006, I overthought it all at the time. I was living in Fremont at the time, drilling myself about the traffic all the way to Marin, and back. Think that they sensed a certain suspicion of self reserve and questionable fathom. At the time, it was about the stress and uncertainty.
Years down the road, realized it wasn't so bad. It was about the fun and giving back to the community, no matter how much the sacrifice. Mom even offered to pay for an apartment there. I had my doubts, as she had already taken a second loan out for audio college, the first trade school that embezzled the money after 9/11, and didn't want me to join the military as a last resort.
Growing and learning through all this is realizing I had a white collared worker and blue collared protecting me, my parents, while trying to raise a son that was always a blue collared worker.
Even though my travels have taken me all throughout Northern California to keep everyone's utilities on, and risking my life. Working with the blood, shit, bones, and puke as an EMT. Now joining LP Fire CERT, I still ended up on the front lines...
Funny how things work out!
