His art, musick and public rituals fascinated and disturbed me ever since I discovered his works over 2 decades ago. I recall browsing through his CD section at Amoeba Records in Berkeley when I bumped into Mike Patton of Faith No More/Mr. Bungle/Fantomas/Tomahawk. Both of us having tastes in the offbeat, arcane, underground and dark expressions of the human psyche.
Nitsch passed away this past April 2022, me finding out only recently. I feel a hole in my heart losing another true Renaissance and contemporary artist. On this 10/31/2022, I would like to commemorate, rejoice and honor his legacy. Hopefully, one day I will visit Austria and his museum.
