Todd McFarlane first introduced a newer and darker version of Spider-Man in the early 1990’s. I was hooked. He was also the co-creator of Venom, who became one of my favorite anti-heroes. He announced he would be leaving at issue #328 that he would be leaving to create his own work.
In 1992, he released Spawn #1, and I instantly fell in love with the character. Throughout the years, I had a falling out with the story getting too overly complex to keep up. Life, college and work kept me busy enough. The movie came out, and it killed the essential and true vibe what it was originally intended as. Eventually we had a fall out.
Flash forward to 2021, the spirit has been rekindled and keeping my fingers crossed it will continue to redeem itself. Most of all, that big money Hollywood and cheap antics won’t fuck it up again.
This is Spawn reborn…
