It's been a week since the last blog. It is time to write something else.

How about some things about me?

I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I moved to New York City at the age of 13. I was brought up Catholic, but I am much better now. On my mother's side I have Sephardim roots. Which makes me an ethnic Jew, among other...

Yesterday's ride was much harder than any I have done before. It started in Acton, Massachusetts went up to Wilton, New Hampshire, near Nashua, and back down to Acton. The weather was great, although at 8:00 AM and 47 degrees F (8 Celsius), going on a bicyle ride does not readily spring to mind.

Prior to the beginning of the ride, the organizer asked if...

New England weather is not always the most cooperative. So tomorrow (Saturday) I am supposed to do a 100 mile bicycle ride. The forecast is showers all day. Since I do not enjoy being on a bike in the rain for 6 hours straight, I have decided to bag it. BUT I will be riding Sunday. The pro is that I will not be wet...

I just read this and was totally appalled:

On Zwinky.com...50 Cent has been promoting his new album, Curtis, which debuts Tuesday. Visitors to the site can preview tracks from the CD and dress the rapper's avatar in virtual merchandise, including caps and other gear.

"It's like an upgraded paper doll, if you will," Hampp told Steve Inskeep. "You can pick out the outfits that you...

Heh! Sorry you are wretching hairballs because of the silly musical promotion....What would Sid vicious do in this situation? A friend just turned me into a Simpson though to cheer me up, and, admittedly it worked. Don't be appalled. Glad to hear about your neighbor!

A quick update on my neighbor:

She has been flown to Pittsburgh on a medical ambulance. She is at hospital waiting for donor lungs. In other words waiting until someone compatible drives into a tree. She loved the flight and felt like a movie star. She might be 16 but she still very much a little kid.

I had an interesting 3 day weekend. Saturday was a pretty quiet day. We cleaned and did stuff around the house. I did a 3 hour bicycle ride. Nothing to write about. On Sunday the girl and I went to a party that started at noon and ended at 1 AM. It seems that having live music is becoming de rigueur around here. There were...

ooo, crap frown

That sounds bad; especially the family and lack of funding bits. Why is the family in denial, if I can ask? The lack of funding is obvious frown - I am probably going to have to take on a fairly serious financial commitment for my dad's care, between now and Christmas, and even then I suspect I'm better off here than I would be there. Suckage.
greaser:
That sure does suck about your next door neighbor. She's lucky there are still some decent people in this world who are willing to help out a bit. Even if he is a dirty old man tongue

Hilly Kristal, founder of NY punk mecca CBGB, dies
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hilly Kristal, the founder of New York punk rock club CBGB, which helped make the Ramones, Blondie and Talking Heads stars, has died at age 75.

Through High School and College, I hung out at CBGB's seeing some of the best punk bands of the 80s there, including The Ramones, The Dead...

It's been a week since I hurt my back and I am feeling much better. I did not miss a day of work, although I came home early on Monday. Today I rode 18 miles on my bicycle in just over an hour, so I guess I am back in the swing of things. I have been sleeping away from the girl for all this...

This past weekend was a weird one. Saturday the girl and I were to go to The Download Festival (Guster, Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, etc.). I was very excited to go see the YYYs. I have heard that Karen O is something to behold. I woke up early made some coffee and went to the back yard with the dog. It was...

Thanks to all of you that wished me a happy birthday yesterday. I was off from work, so was able to check in a few times. The day was very nice and relaxed.

We did get a bit of sad news, my mother-in-law's horse passed away yesterday at the age of 23. He was part of the family for 21 years, almost as many as...

Last september my girls and I danced for them during "Captain Kelly's Kitchen". They gave us backstage passes and our own dressing room and got to hang out with the guys and Bad Religion as well. My dad came with me to rock out during Dropkick! Good Freakin' times!

You're so NOT too old! You have to look at it as if you're the cool older-wiser punk rock dude who still goes to shows!
sockpuppet:
I missed your birthday, didn't I. Sorry about that frown

BAs: well, after looong silence... Swagger finally had a decent release on CD last year, and this year they've released two (2!) albums so far... Altitude was OK, an assembly of stuff from sessions over the last few years. It has four or five fine tracks on it. Harvester is an album of covers of songs from the old Harvest label. Includes versions of 'Outdoor Miner' and 'I'm Stranded', which frankly add nothing IMO. The 'Stagger Lee' reading is bizarre, and I'm not really up for Deep Purple covers myself ('Fireball').

I think they played SXSW, as well.
