I had an interesting 3 day weekend. Saturday was a pretty quiet day. We cleaned and did stuff around the house. I did a 3 hour bicycle ride. Nothing to write about. On Sunday the girl and I went to a party that started at noon and ended at 1 AM. It seems that having live music is becoming de rigueur around here. There were four different acts playing, three that were pretty good and one duo that was ok but only played bad covers (Neil Diamond and Simon and Garfunkel mostly). As in High School the different groups of people did not mix. The bikers stayed in one area, the jocks in another and the rest of us stayed around the food and drinks. By the end of the night, they were all together and drunk. I was driving so I was sober by the end of the night. Being sober I got to see some pretty stupid scenes. There were the repeating drunks ..."so where are you from?" asked one, the other answered "Brewster." Followed by "I know someone there, so where are you from?" The jock girls and guys were play wrestling ending in screams of "you fucker, you broke my nail!"
Sunday was our turn to host the drunks, but instead we had to drive our next door neighbor (16 year old girl) to the hospital. It seems that her lung capacity is now nill. Her heart cannot keep up with the job of pumping blood in an out of lungs that have no flexibility. They are talking about sending her to Pittsburgh in the next few days, in the hopes that donor lungs will be available soon for a transplant. So we are waiting for the call. If she goes to Pittsburgh, it means that she won't be back home for at least 6 months, maybe more. We are likely going to Pittsburgh to drop off her mom's car and will fly back. Unfortunately her mom's job has no paid leave, so she has to take a leave of absence and will have no income while she has to pay for an apartment in Pittsburgh, not to mention all of the out of pocket expenses that are not covered by insurance. Her very large family is in denial, so they are not willing to pitch in. It falls to her friends and neighbors to help out.
We did get to have a small group come for dinner late Sunday. One of them brought her 17 year old niece, who is drop-dead gorgeous. She proceeded to change to her skimpy bikini and lounge around in my back yard. I am so paranoid that someone will think I am a dirty old man, that I just did not look at her much.

That sounds bad; especially the family and lack of funding bits. Why is the family in denial, if I can ask? The lack of funding is obvious
