Went to a party yesterday that turned into a concert. The host is in a band and he invited his friends who showed up with gear in tow. A local "celtic core" band, The Gobshites played first. They play drinking songs, which was perfect as all I wanted to do was drink my new replacement for Guinness. A few weeks I found that Guinness is not vegetarian, so I am OFF the stuff. Ever since I have been drinking microbrews. The brew of the day was Heavy Seas' Peg Leg Imperial Stout from beautiful Baltimore. The drinking songs were followed by the host's dad singing old-coutry standards. Then the host and his band went on playing a mixture of rockabilly, country, blues and zydeco. Somewhere in there my partner came in third in a chilli cook off, which was seriously rigged as the host's mom and brother won 1st and 2nd place. My partner is a chef, so there was no doubt she had the better chilli. Oh well! We skipped out before the last band, as we were hungry. We wound up at a local restaurant.
For the past few months, I have been suffering from pretty bad insomnia. My doctor prescribed Ambien. I hate taking pills, so I have had not tried it. After four days of not sleeping well at all, I finally gave up last night and took a pill. I slept great...so I guess it works.
